+ Soli Deo Gloria +

We remember our members who are celebrating birthdays this week—Brandon Bergdall, Bruce Bultemeier, Roger Buuck, Linda McAllister, Larry Hitzfield, and Payton Lengerich.  May our loving Savior direct, bless, and guide their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need.   We remember in our prayers Dick Hormann, Al’s brother, who had surgery this past week and remains a patient at Lutheran Hospital, Lyndsey Arnold and Bryan Miller.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “Peace for the World.”

Congratulations to Dean & Cindy Wass who will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary tomorrow, June 27.  Continued blessings be upon them as Christ remains at the center of their home.

We thank Connie Garner, our guest organist, and members of the Brave Generation (BG’s) from Bellmont for sharing their gift of music with us this morning.  May the Lord continue to bless each one of them.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in loving memory of Alex Hormann, placed in church this morning by his family.

The men’s softball team has three games this week.  This afternoon they will face Flatrock at 6:00 p.m. On Monday they play Ossian at 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday they face Fuelling at 7:00 p.m.  All games are at Hoagland.

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30a.m. The program airs on Sunday at 8:05a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and then on WFCV (1090 AM) at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.   (With the time change, you may wish to double check broadcast times.)

Have you ever tuned in to “Issues, Etc.” that airs LIVE on Sunday evenings from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on WLYV (1450 AM) in Fort Wayne and on a tape-delay basis on Sunday evenings from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM) in Fort Wayne?

Stewardship Committee’s Food for Thought:  “You say, ‘If I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.’  You make a mistake.  If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Reservations forms for “A Gem of a Night” are located in either entranceway of church.  Please look over the information and plan on coming.  Forms are to be returned no later than Sunday, July 3.  Boxes have been placed in each entranceway for you to place your form.

COUNCIL MEMBERS:  The minutes from the June 7 Council Meeting are in your slots in the entranceway of the church.  Please pick up your copy as you leave the worship service this morning.  The next Council Meeting is Tuesday, July 5, at 8 p.m.

A Note from Our Treasurer:  We are currently behind in our May payment to Wyneken ($6,000).  Through your generous contributions to the Thrivent GivingPlus program, $4,925 has been received in matching funds and credited to Friedheim’s account at Wyneken.  In addition, $10,000 was transferred earlier this spring from our Wyneken account held here at Friedheim.  At the end of June, we need to be current with our Wyneken obligations.  Please prayerfully consider this situation.

It’s Lutheran Night at the Wizards on Friday, July 15, at 7 p.m. as presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  A portion of each ticket purchased ($1) will be donated to Lutheran Social Services.  Order forms are available in each entrance way and need to be returned prior to July 8.  Orders received before June 24 will be entered into the Early Bird Drawing for the opportunity to throw out the first pitch, receive $50 in “magic money,” an autographed bat, and much more.  Tickets cost $6.

LYF members will be leaving from the Parish Hall for their white water rafting trip at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.  Youth, please remember to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, one duffel bag of clothes, and one fold-up chair.  All but two meals will be provided.  (Bring money for stops at a fast food place and for anything extra that you might want.)   You may also wish to bring some snacks.

Articles for the July newsletter should be in the church office no later than Monday, June 27.  Thanks!

Thank you so much for the many visits, meals, thoughts, and prayers during the past few months.  Our time with Isaac Samuel, although too brief, has taught us how precious life truly is.  We are humbled by the support we received to help us through this difficult time and we take comfort in knowing that the same strong arms that are wrapped around Isaac are also wrapped around us.  We ask for your continued prayers for strength and guidance in our days to come.  May the Lord continue to bless you and your families.  – Jon, Cathy, Christian, & Laurel Zwick

Mark Thursday, July 7, on your calendar.  The parking lot at Wyneken will be resealed on that day.  If there are enough willing hands, the project should take no longer than three hours.  Work begins at 8 a.m.  Your help is  very much appreciated.

The school office will be open mornings (9 a.m. to noon) in the summer months (or by appointment if this time isn’t convenient).   However, the office will be closed this week as Mr. Timm will be on vacation this week.

Everyone is welcome to come walk through the Learning Garden this summer and check on the progress of what each class has planted.  Volunteers are also needed to come by occasionally and help keep the area clean and weed free.  Thanks in advance for your help!
