+ Soli Deo Gloria +

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week—Jacob Bergman, Gabrielle Brandt, Jamie Selking, Emma Buuck, Nicholas Linnemeier, Hannah Timm, Elfurt Blomenberg, Jacob Conrad, Misty Gehres, Carrington Bultemeier, and John Nidlinger. May our loving Savior direct, bless, and guide their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need.   We remember in our prayers Cecelia Bultemeier.

We rejoice with Tim and Tonya (Bultemeyer) Bobay on the birth of their son, Lucas James, on Saturday, July 24.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

We remember Julie Heckman and Keith Bock in our prayers as they will be married this Saturday in Columbia City.  May the Lord richly bless this couple as they begin their life together.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”   This week’s theme is “Persistent Prayer.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m.  (With the time change, you may wish to double-check the times of the Ohio programs.)  The program airs on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and then on WFCV (1090 AM) at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Stewardship Committee’s Food for Thought:  Maturing stewards also relae to what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:7:  “Each man should give what he had decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Have you ever tuned in to “Issues, Etc.” that airs LIVE on Sunday evenings from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on WLYV (1450 AM) in Fort Wayne and on a tape-delay basis on Sunday evenings from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM) in Fort Wayne?     This week’s topic is “Sanctification:  The Christian Life” with the discussion led by Dr. Steven Hein.

Would you like to help beautify the church on Sunday mornings or place flowers in church in memory of someone or in honor of a special event?  It’s simple.  Just sign your name to the flower calendar located in the south entranceway of the church and a member of the Altar Guild will contact you.  For $25 the Guild will see that flowers are placed in church for that special day.

The men’s softball team has three games at Hoagland this week—Bingen at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, Fuelling Wednesday, August 4, at 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 5, at 7 p.m. against Soest (a rainout make-up game).  All games are at Hoagland.  The tourney starts on Saturday, August 7, with more information to be announced later.

LYF Members:  Due to numerous conflicts, the white water river rafting trip planned for this week has been cancelled.  Although this is a disappointment, the plan is to put this event on the schedule for next year (probably next July).

The Lutheran Circuit V FastPitch GOLF outing will be held on Sunday, August 15, at the Grey Goose Gold Club in Decatur.  The event begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.  The cost is $40 per person (with four per team).  You can contact Todd Busick at 223-1834, Dean Fuelling at 724-9331, or Steve Conrad for more information.

Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School has a Pre-Kindergarten program for three- and four-year olds.  Currently the three-year old class meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with the four-year olds meeting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  Mrs. Deb Olson is our teacher for these Pre-Kindergarten classes.  If you know people who might be interested in our Pre-K program, please have them contact the school office (639-6177) or Mrs. Deb Olson as soon as possible.  We will need to decide shortly if we will need to have two sessions for our four-year-old class.

Information about the Wyneken extended childcare program is also available in the entranceway.  If enough families so desire, the three and four year old pre-K students will also be able to utilize this program.  If you have question, you may contact a school board member or Tami Schultz, director of the childcare program.

Wyneken school will be closed from July 31-August 7.  The custodian will be stripping and waxing the floors during this time period.

Registration information and forms have been sent out.  If you don’t receive this information, you may wish to contact the school.  Registration Day is Tuesday, August 10, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The first day of school is Monday, August 23 (half day).  School will dismiss at 12:25 p.m.  There will be morning bus service but no bus service in the afternoon for all students.  Parents, if you will need to use the extended childcare program for Monday afternoon, please contact Tami Schultz (547-4540) prior to the 23rd.

Luxuries but not culture, Amusements but not happiness,
A crucifix but not a Savior, A church but not a heaven.
But what you cannot buy you can receive as a gift,
