1.      Dead in Adam

2.      Life with Christ

The Acolyte Nathan Buuck

We thank our seminarian, Troy Scroggins, for delivering this morning’s sermon message.  We pray God’s blessings upon Troy as he continues his studies for the ministry.

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week –Christian Adler Lehman (his first!), Megan Selking, Candace Sielschott, Brandon Bergdall, Ivy Mourey, Bruce Bultemeier, Robert Armao, Roger Buuck, and Linda McAllister.  May our loving Savior continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Bill Fuhrman who is a patient at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Virginia Roy, mother of Lin Gorman, Larkanne Griffiths, and Tom Dafforn, Hollie Hormann’s father, in our prayers.

We remember Dick & Donna Hileman in our prayers as they will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary tomorrow, June 24.  May the Lord continue to be at the heart of their home.

We also remember in our prayers Beth Fuhrman and Don Kitson, Jr. who will be married before the Lord’s Altar this Saturday, June 29.  We pray that the Lord will bless this couple as they begin their lives together.

We pray that the comforting arm of our loving Savior be around the family and friends of Walter Mueller, father of Marcia Selking (one of our Wyneken cooks) and longtime Lutheran educator who was called to his heavenly home this past week.  Let them be reminded of that great day when they will be reunited with their loved one in heaven.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in loving memory of Alex Hormann placed there by his family.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The Price of Being a Christian.”

The LWML continues to collect items for the two in-gathering projects for the District LWML convention.  Items needed for “The Sharing Place” are newborn size onesies, newborn size gowns, receiving blankets, quilt or heavy blanket (crib size), newborn socks or booties, newborn size sweater, small stuffed toy, baby wipes, lotion, or powder.  The “Emmaus Food Pantry” is in need of lite or sugar free foods for diabetics, canned foods with easy open tops or tab openers for the homeless, and all sizes of warm caps and gloves/mittens for the winter season (men, women, or children).  There are boxes in each entranceway for you to place your donation.  Items will be taken to the convention later this week.

The LWML thank-offering envelope commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League may be placed in the collection plate or given to Addy Schuller or Marlene Conrad by today.  This offering will not be included with mites, but will be put in an endowment fund and used 50% for units in Indiana and the other 50% will go to the national organization. The money will be taken to the District Convention that is being held in Indianapolis June 28-30.  Thanks for your support.

The St. Peter and Immanuel youth groups will be sponsoring a church picnic on June 29 at Union Township Hall.  Games, good food, and a silent auction are just some of the activities being planned.  The midway and silent auction will start at 2 p.m.  The meal will be served at 5 p.m.  The youth groups will perform a variety of skits beginning at 7 p.m.  Come and bring the whole family and have a great time!

Wyneken News

Purchase your SCRIP certificates from Kim Weiland following today’s worship service.  Think of SCRIP when planning your summer vacation or even looking at those summer sidewalk sales.

The school office will be open mornings only (9 a.m. to noon) during the summer months.

The 8th graders wish to apologize to all those who had such a long wait in getting their BBQ chicken last Sunday.  Steps will be taken to prevent this from happening again.  Chicken will again be available on August 25.  Watch the newsletter and bulletin for further details as the 25th draws nearer.  Again, thanks to those who supported this fundraiser.

The Scrapbooking Group will meet this afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Friedheim’s church basement.  (Those who are taking the scrapbooking project in 4-H may especially find this useful in completing your project.)

The 3- and 4-year-old Pre-k classes will be held at Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School beginning this fall (2202-2003 school year).  We are excited about having all of our students in one location.  We still have openings for both the 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes.  We also are accepting enrollment applications for students in K-8th grade.  If you would like to enroll your child or know of someone who is interested in our school, please call the school office (639-6177) between 9 a.m. and noon, Monday-Friday.
