We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week –Judy Baumann, Cliff Buuck, Margaret Buuck, Leonard Fuhrmann, Madilyn Baumann, Nathan Bultemeier, Anna Franke, Julie Lehman, Peter Hess, and Matt Knipstein.  We also remember our Wyneken faculty, staff, School Board, our Sunday School teachers and helpers, and those who teach in the public sector as the 2001-2002 school year comes to a close.  May our Loving Father continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Karl King who is a patient at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, Virginia Roy, mother of Lin Gorman, and Tom Dafforn, Hollie Hormann’s father, in our prayers.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The Trinity in Your Life.”

We thank Sandy Blomenberg and the choir for their gift of song this morning.  We have been blessed all year with their enhancement of our worship service with song.  The Lord's blessings remain on each and every one of them.

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Remember the time change may affect the times you can hear these programs). The program airs on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

The Sunday School picnic will be held during the Sunday School hour this morning.

There will be a Special Voters’ Meeting following the worship service next Sunday, May 26.  Two items are on the agenda for that day—the transfer of money from the Julie Harants-Sambol Education Fund (interest income) for assistance for students attending Concordia High School and our financial situation.

The choir party will be held today at 5:00 p.m.  Please contact Sandy Blomenberg if you have questions.

Our men’s softball team has two games this week.  They play Zion, Decatur this evening at 6 p.m.  On Tuesday, May 21, they will face St. John’s Bingen at 7:00 p.m.  Both games are at Hoagland.

Our church is scheduled to assist the residents of Lutheran Home to their worship service on Sunday, June 23.  We need approximately 12 people to do this.  If you want more information or are willing to help, please contact Margaret Buuck at 639-3835.

Wyneken News

Purchase your SCRIP certificates from Kim Weiland following today’s worship service.  Graduations, weddings, and summer vacations are just around the corner.  Think of SCRIP when planning for these events.  A special THANK YOU to Tim & Kris Blomenberg who have donated much of their time and talent to make SCRIP the big success it is today.  Since July 1, 2001, SCRIP has donated over $24,000 to the PTL!  (Think of the amount that could have been donated if everyone just purchased SCRIP for their grocery purchases.  If you’ve never used SCRIP before but shop at Gerber’s, Kroger, Meijer’s, Scott’s or Winn Dixie for your groceries, why not consider just buying enough SCRIP for your next shopping trip?)

The last chance to order Market Day items for this school year is upon us. Orders must be returned to school no later than Friday, May 24, with Internet orders due by noon on Saturday, June 1.  Pick-up date is Thursday, June 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Thanks to all who participated in this fundraiser.

All family accounts were to be paid in full last Friday.  If you have questions concerning your account, please contact Darrel Ehlerding at 547-4229 (evenings).

The Scrapbooking Club will meet today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Friedheim’s church basement.  All are welcome to come.

The final day for beginner band is Tuesday, May 21, with the advanced band finishing on May 22.  All sheet music should be turned in to Mrs. Reed by that time.

The athletic banquet for our 7th & 8th grade athletes has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Eighth grade graduation will be held at Friedheim at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.  A reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the graduation service.

The last day of school is Friday, May 24, with dismissal at 11 a.m.  There will be no North Adams busses at 11:00 a.m. although there will be transportation in the morning.  East Allen busses are not running at all on the 24th.  Closing chapel will be held at 10 a.m. with the awards ceremony slated at 8:30 a.m.

Parents, you may want to check out the “Lost & Found” prior to the last day of school.  Any items left in the box will be given to Goodwill.

There is still time to register your 3 or 4-year old in our Pre-K program for the 2002-2003 school year.  Wyneken’s Pre-K is open to families within our church congregations as well as the community.  Contact the school office for more information.
