We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week –Tim Blomenberg, Kayla Johnson, Gilbert Hartmann, Allison Hormann, Brittany Bergdall, Anna Buuck, Kay Jackson, Sandy Blomenberg, Jon Buuck, Chris Gorman, James Gorman, Ashley Manley, and Floyd Thieme.  We also remember our Wyneken principal, Lowell Timm, Lin Gorman, one of our Sunday School teachers, and Cindy Des Jean who teaches at Bellmont.  May the Lord continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Hunter Wilkinson who was released from the neonatal intensive care unit and is now home with his parents, Karl King who is a patient at the VA Hospital, Virginia Roy, mother of Lin Gorman, and Tom Dafforn, Hollie Hormann’s father, in our prayers.

We remember Gerhard & Dorothy Werling who are celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary this morning and Richard & Margaret Buuck who will celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, May 8.  May the Lord bless these couples with continued happiness.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in honor of today’s confirmation class.  We pray the Lord’s blessings upon Tyler, Brittany, Sara, Jonathan, Vanessa, Emily, Kari, Jon, Jacob, Daniel, Ashley, Ben, Markie, Megan, and Jacob as they profess their Christian faith this morning.  May their faith continue to grow.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “Christians in a non-Christian World.”

In ancient church tradition, the sixth Sunday of Easter is Rogate Sunday at which time Christians remember the fact that we are stewards of all the resources that God has given to us.  As God has placed many of us into the vocation of farming, may we remember that we are stewards of the land, water, and air.  This precious resource is not an inheritance to our children but a gift given to us to be preserved for them and future generations.

The 5th-7th grade Sunday School classes will meet in the church rather than at the Parish Hall this morning.  Please look for your teachers after the worship service to find your location for this morning.

Make plans to attend  our Ascension Day worship service this Thursday, May 9.  Church begins at 7:30 p.m.  Holy communion will be celebrated.

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Remember the time change may affect the times you can hear these programs). The program airs on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

Confirmation gowns should be returned tomorrow.  Thanks!

The next LYF gym night will be on Sunday, June 2.  At this time,  our 8th graders will be welcomed to the youth group and the senior class will be wished good luck in the future.

Our congregation’s men’s softball season will begin soon.  The current players ask for anyone who likes competition, plus outdoor fellowship, to join their team.  Two pre-season practices will be held—the first one this evening; the second, next Sunday, May 12.  Both practices will begin at 6 p.m. at the Hoagland diamond (behind the fire station).  Contact Steve Conrad or Kevin Buuck for more information.

The choir party will be held on Sunday, May 19, at 5:00 p.m.  Please contact Sandy Blomenberg to make reservations.

Next Sunday we will be re-laying the cornerstone.  The ceremony will be held following the worship service.  In addition, there will be an opportunity for fellowship and refreshments after the cornerstone ceremony.

We have received a cookbook to place in the cornerstone.  Thanks!  (A list of the items being included in the cornerstone will be published in next month’s newsletter.)

There will be a door collection this morning for the Gideons.
