+ SOLI  DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week –Kim Schamerloh, Jenny Schamerloh, Tanner Jaxson Walker (his first!), Don Erxleben, and Perry Caston.  We also remember our Wyneken School Board, especially those members from Friedheim (Stan Stoppenhagen, Kent Kiefer, and Phil Franke), Lisa Erxleben, one of our Sunday School teachers, and Christine Bultemeier who teaches at Heritage.  May the Lord continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Hunter Wilkinson who remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lutheran, Karl King who wass at the VA Hospital, Virginia Roy, mother of Lin Gorman, and Tom Dafforn, Hollie Hormann’s father, in our prayers.

We also remember in our prayers the Armao and Stout families.  Bob Armao has completed his vicarage and received his first call to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois.  Tim Stout will serve his vicarage at Calvary Lutheran at Plymouth, Indiana.   May the Lord bless their ministries.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The Spirit in the Christian’s Life.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Remember the time change may affect the times you can hear these programs). The program airs on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

The AAL invites you to a reception following this morning’s worship service to be held in the church basement.  Please come and welcome these 15 young people as communicant members of our church.

The AAL will also have a meeting this morning.

Confirmation pictures will be taken this Saturday, May 4.  Please be at church by 8 a.m.  Thanks!

The confirmation class is asked to meet in the back of church (prior to going down to the reception) following today’s examination.  Some pictures need to be taken for the cornerstone project.  Thanks!

The LYF plans on having a paper/aluminum can drive sometime in May or June.  Watch the bulletin and newsletter for more complete details.  Start saving your papers and cans for the youth to pick up for you.

There will be a “Helping Hands” dinner for Larkanne (Bultemeyer) Griffiths at Wyneken today.  Serving begins at 10:30 a.m. and continues to 1 p.m.  Carryouts are available.  On the menu is pork from Manley’s and chicken from Gerbers, Richards, and Fox’s.  A free will donation will be accepted.  A silent auction (items can be found in the library) and raffle will also be held.  Tickets for the raffle are available at Wyneken this morning.

Our congregation’s men’s softball season will begin soon.  The current players ask for anyone who likes competition, plus outdoor fellowship, to join their team.  Two pre-season practices will be held—the first on Sunday, May 5; the second, on Sunday, May 12.  Both practices will begin at 6 p.m. at the Hoagland diamond (behind the fire station).  Contact Steve Conrad or Kevin Buuck for more information.

Youth ushers for May are Joey Des Jean and Kevin Heckman.
