The Acolyte

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week—Steve Conrad, Markie Mourey, Alex Baumann, Cheryl Bultemeyer, Bernice Caston, and Todd Gehres. We also remember our Wyneken teacher's aides.  Kim Ehlerding, Hollie Hermann, and Thelma Standiford, and our Wyneken secretary, Danielle Fuhrman, as well as Rich Weiland, our Sunday School superintendent, and Sandy Blomenberg who teaches at St. Peter-Immanuel. May the Lord continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life. We especially remember George Geyer, Paul Fuhrmann, and Jim Kaehr, Jon Kaehr's father, who have returned home following hospital stays.

The flowers on the altar have been placed in church to the glory of God and in loving memory of Wilbert & Norwin Stoppenhagen.  Both brothers died on December 10 (Norwin in Europe in 1944 and Wilbert in 1990). Lucile Stoppenhagen placed the flowers in church.

We express our Christian sympathy to Tammy Dahling whose grandmother, Marie Koesler, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, December 3, and was given Christian burial on Saturday, December 8. We pray that God's comforting arm be around those who mourn and remind them of that great day when they will be reunited with their loved ones in heaven.

Included in this morning's bulletin is our weekly study guide, "Time in the Word." This week's theme is "When the Messiah Conies."

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday. The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

We thank our Wyneken choir for their gift of song this morning.  You have enhanced our worship services today.

Our midweek Advent services continues this Wednesday (7:30 p.m.).  Pastor Dahling's sermon will be "A Profile in Greatness."

The Morning Glories had another successful sale at the Wyneken craft show ($450.50). You have one more opportunity to purchase some items since there will be a booth at the Ossian Health Center's craft show on Friday, December 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Wyneken News

As you do your holiday shopping, remember SCRIP. Glenbrook and Jefferson Pointe certificates (good at all stores) are available.  Certificates will be available following today's worship service from Kim Weiland. SCRIP certificates are also sold on Friday afternoons after school.

There will be no East Alien afternoon bus Thursday, December 13.   Parents need to make arrangements for their children to get home that afternoon.

Market Day orders are due to the school by Friday, December 21, with internet orders due by noon on January 5. Pick-up dale is Thursday, January 10, in (he school lunchroom from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Wyneken's final day of classes before Christmas break will be on Friday, December 21. Students who ride on North Adams busses will not have transportation to and from school on Thursday & Friday, December 20 & 21.   Parents will need to make arrangements for those two days. (East Alien students will have bus transportation those days.)

You are invited to attend the Christmas assembly on Friday, December 21, beginning at 12:40 p.m.

The school will be closed December 29 through January 2 so the custodian can clean and wax the floors.

Thanks to all for the generous donations for our two adopted families. Chapel offerings in December will be used for Agapelines International to be used for scholarships for Korean students to attend school. Each $25 received will be given as a scholarship to Christian pastors so that their children might go to school.

The 8th  graders are selling discount cards that can be used at 23 different local businesses. The cost of the card is $5. These cards would make a great stocking stutter. For example, at Papa John's if you buy a large or extra large pizza, you receive one free pizza of equal or lesser value. See an 8"' grader for more information.  Friedheim's 8"' graders are Tyier Armao, Sara Blomenberg, Jon Buuck, Emily Conrad, Kari Heckman, Jon Kiefer, Jacob Lee, Daniel Linnemeier, Ben Moeller, Markie Mourey, Megan Selking, and Jacob Stoppenhagen.

Would you be willing to save your empty toilet paper rolls? Pre-K could use these in art projects. Items also that would be useful are scrap paper for the children to draw on and craft supplies that you no longer use. You can drop these off at the Parish Hall. Just mark them "Pre-K use." Thanks!

Campbell's is offering a special bonus for each 50 of the following labels collected by the school by December 31. The school can receive 200+ bonus labels for Campbell's condensed soups. Select soups, Prego Pasta Sauce, Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers, and V8 Splash. Swanson broth products are also being doubled at this time. You may drop your labels off at school or send them with a Wyneken student.

Canisters have been placed in either entranceway of the church for your convenience for you to deposit your General Mills "Box Tops for Education." Thanks for your support of this program.

If you are picking up your child at 2:45 p.m. (and they are waiting in the gym for you), please be prompt in getting your child.

The 6th grade girls and boys will play FIatrock at Wyneken on Thursday, December 13. Games are at 4:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  The 5th grade girls play St. Joe's 5th grade Saturday, December 15, at 8:00 a.m. with the 5th grade boys' game beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Both games are at Wyneken.

The varsity girls (A) are playing Concordia Saturday, December 15, at 9:15 a.m. while the boys' game begins at 10:30 a.m. The varsity B (girls) game begins at 11:45 a.m.   The varsity boys (B) play Concordia at 1:00 p.m. All games are at Concordia.  Come out and support our young athletes! Please don't forget that all children should be in the gym watching the game (not running the hall or in the lunchroom). The exception, if the child is helping the parent in the concession stand. Thanks!
