+ SOLI  DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week—Jason Putteet, Lisa Erxleben, Sharon Franke, Shelly Kiefer, Sherril Bradtmueller, Clarence Bultemeier, Paul Drier, Dan Schuller, Dean Wass, and Gabrielle Cale.  We also remember our kindergarten teacher, Rae Fuhrmann, Bonnie Buuck, one of our Sunday School teachers, and Linda Keuneke who teaches in the public school system.  May the Lord continue to direct, bless, and guide them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember George Geyer, who had bypass surgery at Lutheran Hospital this past week, Lin Gorman’s mother who is in CCU at Parkview Hospital, Jim Crosby who has returned home, and Larkanne Griffiths.

We welcome Amy and Hannah Walker, Dean and Cindy Wass, and Jerry Bultemeyer to our Friedheim family.  They have transferred to us from sister congregations.  We pray that the Lord will continue to bless them, guide them, and protect them.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The King of the Kingdom.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m.  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

There will be an informational meeting concerning the Wyneken Expansion today at 1 p.m. in the Wyneken gym.  The architect for the project will be present to answer any questions you may have as well as plans for the expansion for you to review.

Council Members:  There will be a special Council Meeting following the worship service this morning.  The topic of discussion will be the Partnership Grant.  You may also pick up your minutes from the November 6 Council meeting.  The next Council Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4.

Bids are needed for Parish Hall custodian and groundskeeper.  If you have any questions or wish to submit a bid, please contact one of the Trustees (Calvin Buuck, Steve Conrad, Tom DeKoninck, or Dale Heckman).  Please let them know as soon as possible.

The LWML will again sponsor “Advent by Candlelight” to be held Monday, December 3.  Extra reservation forms are in either entranceway.  Hostesses are needed!  If you wish to be a hostess, please return your form today.  All other reservations should be returned by Monday, November 26.  If you have questions, please contact Ann Crosby (639-3044) or Doris Conrad (547-4590).

The Friedheim’s men’s basketball team plays tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Monmouth.  Our team faces United Brethren.  Contact Steve Conrad (547-4597) for more information.

The Altar Guild would like to remind members to bring their items for the Thanksgiving display to church by noon on Tuesday, November 20.  You may take your items home with you following the Thanksgiving Day service.

You are welcome to come to either (or both) of our Thanksgiving services.  On Wednesday, November 21, the Thanksgiving Eve service will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Our Thanksgiving Day service begins at 9:00 a.m.

The Morning Glories need old quilts, mattress pads, and/or old towels to be used for padding for potholders.  You may leave these in the Parish Hall or call Marlene Conrad and she will pick them up.  The Morning Glories could also use chenille bedspreads.  When cut into strips, these make beautiful rugs.  Again, these can be left at the Parish Hall. The Morning Glories will not meet this week but will meet on the 27th to work on making rag rugs.  Also thanks to all who helped at the Hessen Cassel Bazaar.  The Morning Glories had sales of $574.20!  (A large percentage of this year’s sales are going to Wyneken Expansion.)

An appreciation supper is being planned for all who helped or supported Cornfusion III.  Mark Friday, December 7, on your calendar.  Serving will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  Come and enjoy chili/chicken noodle soup.  A free will donation will be accepted.  In addition there are plans for a “Chili Cook-Off” and “Cookie Bake-Off.”  Bring a small pot of chili and/or one dozen cookies and the others attending will vote of their favorite.  The winners will each receive a $10 gift certificate.  Please call Mary Gallmeyer or Shirley Buuck if you are interested in participating in either the “cook-off” or “bake-off.”

A special thanks to all the members, friends, and neighbors for the many cards, letters, visits, and prayers since I broke my hip.  Also a special thanks to Pastor Dahling for his daily visits, prayers, and encouragement.  May God bless you. ----- Jim Crosby

There will be a community tree lighting ceremony this Saturday, November 24, at 5:00 p.m. at the Adams County Courthouse.  (The rain date is the same day and time but at the Decatur library).

Attendance:  Sunday Worship Service – 249; Sunday School – 46; Bible Class – 24; Monday Evening Bible Class – 5; Early-bird Bible Class - 5

Wyneken News

Welcome back, Mrs. Furhmann!  She has been teaching half days and will start back full days this week.  We praise the Lord for her recovery and pray that the Lord will continue to grant her good health!

The Timm family wishes to thank everyone for helping them move last weekend.  Their new address is 924 Schnelker Court, New Haven, Indiana  46774.  Their phone number is 493-9769.

The Holiday SCRIP contest ended last Sunday with sales of nearly $40,000 and a profit of $2,400 given to Wyneken Expansion.  As you do your holiday shopping remember SCRIP.  Glenbrook and Jefferson Pointe certificates (good at all stores) are available.  Certificates will be available following today’s worship service from Kim Weiland.  SCRIP certificates are also sold on Friday afternoons after school but since this week is a shortened week, SCRIP will be available on Wednesday.

The Scrapbooking group will not meet today due to the Expansion Committee meeting.  The Scrapbooking group will meet on Sunday, December 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  At that time Mendi Kaehr, a representative from “Creative Memories,” will be present if you wish to purchase scrapbooking materials or need help getting started on your first scrapbook.

Market Day Internet orders are due by November 24.  Pick-up date is November 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lunchroom  (please note this is a different date than listed last week).  If 374 items are sold in December, the school will receive a $75 cash bonus.  Get your orders in for the holidays.  Your order is needed to make Market Day profitable.  It’s a win-win situation—you receive great food and the school receives the profits!  Only a few forms were made available for church members and are located in the back of church.  If you didn’t receive one, please contact Sharon Franke.

If there is a problem with your Christmas card order (missing, wrong, or broken items), please notify the school office as soon as possible so that the problem can be corrected.  Christmas card money is due back to school by November 19.

The upper grade band will have practice Monday and Wednesday of this week and will be playing at chapel service on Wednesday.  Parents, grandparents, and all others are always welcome to come to chapel.  Chapel is usually held on Wednesdays at 8:20 a.m.

The greenery is scheduled to arrive the week of November 26 with the poinsettias scheduled to come on November 29.  The 8th grader from whom you ordered your items will be contacting you about delivery and payment.  Thanks for supporting this fundraiser!

The 8th graders are again sponsoring a craft show at Wyneken on Saturday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can do some shopping, enjoy a delicious luncheon, and buy cookies at the cookie corner.  All profits go towards their Washington, DC trip next spring.

Many thanks to everyone who donated baked or homemade goods to the recent 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade program and bake sale.  We had lots of goodies and sold just about everything.  Thanks to all the bakers and the buyers.  ---  Wyneken PTL

Campbell’s is offering a special bonus for each of the following labels collected by the school by December 31.  The school can receive 200+ bonus labels for Campbell’s condensed soups, Select soups, Prego Pasta Sauce, Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers, and V8 Splash.  Swanson broth products are also being doubled at this time.  You may drop your labels off at school or send them with a Wyneken student.

The 6th grade class, along with their 3rd/4th grade prayer partners, has adopted two families from Lutheran Social Services to help make the holidays happier.  There is a list of needed items for these families posted in the entranceway.  Any items for these families can be brought to Wyneken.

The Athletic Boosters are taking orders for “Spirit Shirts.”  An order form was sent home with each child in grades K-6.  Sample shirts are hanging in the school office.  If you’re concerned about sizing, there are shirts in storage at the school office if most sizes for you to look at.  Orders will be taken through December 1 and should be back in time for Christmas.  Orders (with checks made payable to Wyneken  Athletic Boosters) need to be returned to the school office by December 1.  Questions should be directed to Judy Bultemeier or Ruth Heckman.

On Monday, November 19, the 8th grade boys and girls will play St. John (Ft. Wayne) at Wyneken with games at 4:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
