+ SOLI  DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Elfurt Blomenberg, Jacob Conrad, Carrington Janae Bultemeier (her first!!), John Nidlinger, Abagail Bultemeier, Bonnie Buuck, Eldora Fuelling, Roger Manley, and Chad Baumann. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Phyllis Nidlinger, mother of John Nidlinger, who is has returned home, Velma Schuller who is now in Adams County’s Extended Care Unit, Corena Buuck who is in failing health, Al Hormann who has returned home following bypass surgery, and Bonnie Buuck who underwent surgery last Wednesday and has returned home.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “Persistent Prayer.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

The LWML will continue their ingathering through August 12.  You may still bring items to church and place them in the boxes in either entrance way.  A list of needed items is posted in the entranceway.  One item needs to be added to that list.  Christian children’s books, in good condition, are also needed.

The produce stand is now open and is in need of your donations.  If you have extra items from your garden, please drop them off at the stand.  Produce may be placed on the table or put in the refrigerator.

Are you willing to donate food for Cornfusion III?  The committee is in need of hamburger, pop in cans (Pepsi or Coke products), bottled water, hot dogs, and nacho chips.  If you would prefer, you may give the committee cash and let them make the purchase.  You may bring your donations to the church basement or contact any member of the Food Committee – Tami Stoppenhagen or Mary Gallmeyer.

The refrigerator in the Parish Hall isn’t working and will need to be replaced.  If you have an extra frig that you would like to donate or sell or if some of the church organizations would like to help purchase a new one, please contact one of the Trustees—Dale Heckman, Steve Conrad, Calvin Buuck, or Tom DeKoninck.

There will be no Elders meeting this Tuesday prior to the Council meeting.

Cornfusion will be open to the congregation on Sunday, August 26.  You have two options that morning.  You may attend services at church at 7:30 a.m. that day or you may attend the special service at the maze that is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m.  Bring your lawn chair with you to the maze and be sure to dress casual.  Following the service, the congregation is invited to navigate the maze and enjoy a luncheon.  Hope to see you there!

Altar Guild will meet on Tuesday, August 14, at 7:30 p.m.

The Morning Glories will resume meeting on Tuesday, August 21, at 9:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.  New faces are always welcome.  Come, and be a part of this group.

Cornfusion III, A Maze Odyssey, brochures are available in the church entrance way.  If you know of a group, organization, or school that may be interested in coming to the maze, you may wish to take them a brochure that provides information for this year’s maze.

Attendance:  Sunday Worship Service – 229; Monday Night Bible Class – 8.

Wyneken News

SCRIP certificates will be available following today’s worship service from Kim Weiland.  Think of those back-to-school sales that are beginning to appear as you look over the SCRIP order form.

Registration forms have been mailed.  If you did not receive yours or are interested (or know of someone who is interested) in enrolling their child at Wyneken, please contact the school office (639-6177).

The 8th graders will continue to raise funds for their Washington, DC trip.  They will be selling hot dogs and pop outside the Decatur Scott’s grocery store today from noon to 6:00 p.m. Come out and support our 8th graders!

Mark your calendars for two important dates.   Registration for the 2001-2002 school year will be held on Tuesday, August 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The first day of classes will be held on Monday, August 20 (half-day) with dismissal at 11:15 a.m. (no lunch will be served).  No North Adams bus transportation will be available at 11:15 a.m.  Parents, please make arrangements to get your children home that day

Thanks to all who helped move the Timm family last Saturday.

A Note from the Athletic Boosters:  Fees have been set for the 2001-2002 school year.  One child (one sport), $20; One child (two or more sports), $40; Family fee, $60.  The Boosters will be at registration if you have any questions.  Soccer and volleyball season will soon start for our young athletes.  Parents are reminded to have physicals for their child prior to the first practice.  Parents, your help will be needed.  Check your schedules and pick the times that you can help with concessions.  Donations of canned pop (Coke or Pepsi products) are needed and will be accepted at registration.  (Don’t bring “no caffeine” products; they don’t sell well.)  The Boosters will also be selling sweatshirts and long sleeve T-shirts.  Information will be available at registration.  It takes everyone to make our athletic program run well.  The Boosters are responsible for paying ref fees, purchasing new uniforms and equipment, as well as association fees and tournament fees.
