The Acolyte

Sara Blomenberg

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Mike Miller, Frank Buuck, Gene Kiess, Ruth Armao, Ron Bultemeier, April Erxleben, Drew Heckman, Jacob Bergman, Gabrielle Brandt, Jamie Selking, Nicholas Linnemeier, and Emma Buuck (her first birthday). May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Phyllis Nidlinger, mother of John Nidlinger, who is in failing health, Al Hormann who underwent bypass surgery last Thursday, and Chris Gorman who had eye surgery in Indianapolis on Friday.

We pray the Lord’s comforting arms be around the family and friends of Candice Shannon who was called to her heavenly home last Sunday and was given Christian burial on Wednesday, July 25.  May the Lord be with her family during these difficult days and remind them of that great day when they will be reunited with those they love in heaven.  We also remember Shelly Kiefer in our prayers as her grandmother, Millie Baker, was called to her heavenly home last week and was given Christian burial on Thursday, July 26.  May our Lord comfort this family.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “Fellowship with the Divine.”

Parents, please encourage your children to come forward when called to hear the message especially aimed to them.

Next Sunday, August 5, two worship services will be offered.  The early-bird service will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the regular service that begins at 9:00 a.m.  Holy communion will be celebrated in both services.

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

Council Members:  The minutes from the July 3, 2001 Council meeting are in your slots in the entranceway of the church.  You may pick them up following the worship service this morning.  The next Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 7.

The produce stand is now open and is in need of your donations.  If you have extra items from your garden, please drop them off at the stand.  Produce may be placed on the table or put in the refrigerator.

The LWML will continue their ingathering through August 12.  You may still bring items to church and place them in the boxes in either entrance way.  A list of needed items is posted in the entranceway.  One item needs to be added to that list.  Christian children’s books, in good condition, are also needed.

Youth ushers for August are Zac and Alex Lichtle and Justin Jackson.

Are you willing to donate food for Cornfusion III?  The committee is in need of hamburger, pop in cans (Pepsi or Coke products), bottled water, hot dogs, and nacho chips.  If you would prefer, you may give the committee cash and let them make the purchase.  You may bring your donations to the church basement or contact any member of the Food Committee – Tami Stoppenhagen or Mary Gallmeyer.

The men’s softball team has one game scheduled for this week.  They will play Flatrock on Tuesday, July 31, at Hoagland.

The refrigerator in the Parish Hall isn’t working and will need to be replaced.  If you have an extra frig that you would like to donate (or sell) or if some of the church organizations would like to help purchase a new one, please contact one of the Trustees—Dale Heckman, Steve Conrad, Calvin Buuck, or Tom DeKoninck.

To our Friedheim Family,

Words cannot express how we feel right now.  The many cards, hugs, and gifts of food have meant so very much.

Pastor, thank you for your strength.  Wyneken Class of ‘97, may God bless you all.

Keep us in your prayers as we will you.

Kent, Monica, Tyler, Drew, Clayton, & Madison
