+ SOLI  DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Beth Heimann, Sean Sielschott, Jordan Buuck, Kevin Conrad, Candice Shannon, Mike Conrad, Erica Everett, Brandon Kock, Trevor Baumann, Ted Blomenberg, Shelby Bultemeier, Erin Evans, Rebecca Evans, and Deb Gallmeyer.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Phyllis Nidlinger, mother of John Nidlinger, who is in failing health, and Corbin Bultemeier and Bonnie Buuck who have returned home after brief hospital stays.

We remember in our new Synod President, Rev. Gerald Kieschnick, formerly president of the Texas District, in our prayers.  We pray that the Lord would guide him and our Synod as well as bless the work of the church.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in loving memory of Katie Heckman and in honor of Drew and Kari Heckman.  The flowers were placed in church by their parents, Jim & Ruth.  May the Lord continue to bless this family.

Pastor Dahling and his family will be leaving on a well-deserved vacation following the worship service this morning and plan to return late on Friday.  If you find yourself in need of pastoral care, please contact Rev. Martin Moehring (724-7552) or Pastor Tom Olson (639-6178).

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The Benefits of Obedience.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090 AM).

The LWML will continue their ingathering through August 12.  You may still bring items to church and place them in the boxes in either entrance way.  A list of needed items is posted in the entranceway.  One item needs to be added to that list.  Christian children’s books, in good condition, are also needed.

The produce stand is now open and is in need of your donations.  If you have extra items from your garden, please drop them off at the stand.  Produce may be placed on the table or put in the refrigerator.

Your help is needed to pass out Cornfusion brochures at the 4-H parade on Tuesday evening, July 24.  (Last year a group roller bladed the parade route and passed out brochures, but you can walk it too!) If you would be willing to help, please let Mike Werling or Phil Franke know today.

The next Cornfusion workday has been set for this Saturday, July 28.  We will be putting up the observation deck, putting in mailboxes and sign posts, hoeing out corn that grew back, and placing the maze master’s tower in the middle of the maze.  All hands are welcome.  Work will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Are you willing to donate food for Cornfusion III?  The committee is in need of hamburger, pop in cans (Pepsi or Coke products), bottled water, hot dogs, and nacho chips.  If you would prefer to give the committee cash and let them make the purchase, that would also be appreciated.  You may bring your donations to the church basement  or contact any member of the Food Committee – Tami Stoppenhagen or Mary Gallmeyer.

New Hope Lutheran Church is establishing a new fellowship program for seniors to be held on a quarterly basis.  The first dinner will be held on Thursday, July 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in their Fellowship Hall.  Look forward to sharing a good time with a tasty meal, a speaker, and entertainment.  A free will offering will be accepted.  Reservations are due by Monday, July 23.  Call 622-7954 and leave your phone number on the answering machine.  Your call will be returned.

The men’s softball team has several games this week.  They will play Union on Monday, July 23, Flatrock on Tuesday, July 24, and Decatur on Thursday, July 26.  All games begin at 8:30 p.m. at Hoagland

Wyneken Expansion Financial Update

We would like to thank everyone who has made pledge contributions to this important project.  As printed in the 2nd quarter financial reports, we had a total of $176,971.14 on hand as of June 30, 2001.  The pledges are a significant portion of the Expansion budget.  As of June 30, we should have received $72,400 of pledge contributions—the actual received was $31,725.  As this project gets underway, please remember your commitment.  Let’s set a goal to be back on budget by the next quarterly report (September 30, 2001)!

As a reminder, everyone is eligible for up to a $100 match from AAL on your contribution.  If you have volunteered 20 or more hours at Wyneken, you are eligible for an additional $25 match.  We have learned more about this program since last year.  Here are the updated guidelines.

Wyneken News

SCRIP certificates will be available following today’s worship service from Kim Weiland.  Think of those back-to-school sales that are beginning to appear as you look over the SCRIP order form.

Watch the mail for registration forms.  They will be mailed out in mid-July.

Wyneken School will be closed for waxing the floors until July 28.

Plans are to move the Timm family to their rental home on Saturday, July 28.  They will be renting a home, located on 750 N, from the Bulmahn family.  A crew is leaving at 5:00 a.m. on the 28th.  If you would be willing to go along to help clean each room (sweep, wash windows, etc.) as items are loaded unto the truck, please contact Phil Franke.  If you can help unload once they return (later that same afternoon), please contact the church office.  Pastor will compile a list of volunteers and will call them with the tentative arrival time.
