+ SOLI  DEO GLORIA +

We remember those members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Megan Selking, Candace Sielschott, Ivy Mourey, Bruce Bultemeier, Bob Armao, and Roger Buuck.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless them.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We remember in our prayers Erin Heimann and Brian Evans who were married last Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur.  We pray that the Lord will bless this couple as they begin their lives together.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in loving memory of Alex Hormann.  The flowers were placed in church by his parents.

We also remember in our prayers Judy Werling whose grandmother was called to her heavenly home this past week.  We pray that the Lord will comfort this family and remind them of that day when they will be reunited with their loved ones in heaven.

We thank Jon Smithley for delivering this morning’s sermon as Pastor Dahling is preaching at the Lake James Chapel this morning.  We pray the Lord’s blessings upon Jon as he will begin his vicarage this fall.

Pastor Dahling will be at Lake James this week.  In case of pastoral care, please contact the parsonage.  Mrs. Dahling will be able to contact pastor.

Parents, please encourage your children to come forward when invited this morning to hear the sermon geared especially to them.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “Unawareness of Sin.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 AM.

The men’s softball team has two games this week.  They play Flatrock on Tuesday, June 26, at Hoagland at 7:00 p.m. and Ossian on Wednesday, June 27, at 8:30 p.m. at Hoagland.

There will be a door collection this morning to benefit the Ft. Wayne Seminary.   The Seminary sustained damage from the recent tornado.

Did you miss out on that barbecued chicken last Sunday?  You are in luck.  The 8th graders will again sponsor a dinner on Sunday, July 8.   You can go to our Quarterly Voters’ Meeting and then pick up your chicken.  Presale tickets should be available next Sunday.  The cost is only $4 for half a chicken.   Watch the bulletin for more information.  The 8th graders appreciate your support of this fundraiser.

The Men’s Fastpitch Softball League is sponsoring a golf outing on July 14 at the Grey Goose.  It will be four-man Florida scramble with a 7 a.m. shotgun start at a cost of $45 per person.  Payment would be appreciated two weeks prior to the tournament.  Please contact Dale Gallmeyer if you have any questions or want to participate in this outing.

The 9th Annual Lutheran Night at the Wizards will be held on Saturday, June 30.  Tickets are $6 each.  Contact the AAL office in Decatur (724-4222), the Ft. Wayne office, Kathy Bultemeier, or an AAL officer.

The LWML will continue their ingathering through August 12.  You may still bring items to church and place them in the boxes in either entrance way.  A list of needed items is posted in the entranceway.  One item needs to be added to that list.  Christian children’s books, in good condition, are also needed.

Youth ushers for July are Kevin Heckman and Craig Linnemeier.

Next Sunday, July 1, there will be two services offered.  The first service begins at 7:30 a.m.   The second service begins at 9:00 a.m.  Holy communion will be celebrated at both services.

Council Members:  The minutes from the June 5 Council meeting are in your slots in the entrance way of the church.  The next Council meeting will be held on July 3.

Please remember that Sunday, July 8, is our Quarterly Voters’ Meeting.  The meeting will be held following our worship service that morning.   (Note:  All financial reports should be in the church office no later than 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6.)

The LYF will be going to Cedar Point this Friday, June 29.  Please meet at Wyneken.  Departure time is 6:00 a.m. with an estimated return time of 10:00 p.m.  Cost is $20.

Your help is needed at the Cornfusion site.  Please bring tillers, garden hoes, and willing hands to help cut out the maze on Saturday, June 30, beginning at 8:30 a.m.  If you would be willing to help with the laying out of the maze (knowing how to read a blueprint would be helpful but not necessary), please contact Judy Werling (639-6132) anytime after June 25.

Dear Members of Zion, Friedheim,

Thank you for all the cards, letters, and gifts given to me on the celebration of my 25th teaching anniversary.  Your support and kindness toward me and my family was very thoughtful.  Thank  you.
