Kari Heckman (9:00 a.m.)

We remember those members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Aaron Bergman, Josh Bickel, David Brandt, Daniel Linnemeier, Jon Gallmeyer, Mike Selking, Sam Baumann, Denise Conrad, Devin Sielschott, Joe Gorman, Jessica Linnemeier, Kevin Schultz, and Kim Fuhrmann. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Jared Witte, while improving, remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital.

Congratulations to Delmar & Joyce Heckman who will celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 5.  We pray for the Lord’s continued blessings upon this couple.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  This week’s theme is “The Blessed Trinity Blesses.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 AM.

The men’s softball team has two games this week.  They play Flatrock on Monday, June 4, at Hoagland and on Friday, June 8, they face Soest at Decatur.  Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Sunday School picnic will be held this morning following the second service.

Council Members:  You may pick up your May 1, 2001 Council Minutes this morning following the worship service.  The next Council meeting will be held on June 5.

Are you ready for some more of that delicious barbequed chicken?  The 8th grade class will again sponsor several dinners this year.  The first one will be on Father’s Day, June 17.  Presale tickets will be available on June 3 and again on June 10.  The cost is only $4 for half a chicken.  Watch next week’s bulletin to see from whom you may purchase tickets.

The Board of Finance wishes to remind the congregation that all payments to Wyneken must be up to date at the end of Wyneken’s fiscal year (which is June 30).  We are running behind in our contributions and may need to have the Trustees borrow money in order to become current.  Please prayerfully consider this situation in the coming month.  Thank you!

Good news!  As Pastor announced last Sunday, the Lutheran Foundation has awarded $300,000 ($100,000 to each congregation) to be used for the expansion at Wyneken.  We are grateful for this contribution from the Foundation.

Attendance: Sunday Worship Service – 184; Ascension Service – 48 with 27 receiving Holy Communion; Early-bird Bible Class – 5

Wyneken News

A call has been issued to Lowell Timm to serve as Wyneken’s principal.  He currently is principal and 5th & 6th grade teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Woodworth (Milford, Illinois).  We pray the Lord will guide him as he contemplates this call.

As the school year comes to a close, we recognize significant service anniversaries of our teachers.  Michelle Martin, out third grade teacher, celebrates 15 years of service in the Lord’s work of teaching our children.  Mrs. Martin will be presented with a plaque recognizing this service milestone, along with a monetary gift.  Rae Furhmann, our kindergarten teacher, celebrates 25 years of service in the teaching ministry.  In recognition of this major milestone, a tree will be planted at the school in her honor, and she will receive a monetary gift.  In addition, we will be honoring Mrs. Fuhrmann at a luncheon open to all Association members today at Wyneken.  Mark your calendars for this chance to honor this dedicated servant who has touched so many of our lives and our children.  We praise God for the dedication and love shown by these two and rest of our school faculty and staff.

Market Day pick up is Monday, June 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Your help is needed for next year’s Market Day.  Two people are needed to help with check-in and set-up (5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Market Day pick-up dates).  Contact Anne Fuhrmann at 547-4469 for more information. We wish to thank Anne and Stan Fuhrmann for all their involvement with Market Day.  They will be missed next year!

Two band parents are needed to take over the band chairman/treasurer job for the 2001-2002 school year.  Call Danielle Fuhrman at the school office (639-6177) if you have questions or are interested in this position.  We thank Danielle for all her work the past few years as she served in this position.

Don’t forget to get your SCRIP certificates this morning!  See Kim Weiland following the worship service.  Think of SCRIP when getting ready for the upcoming graduations, weddings, or other special occasions.

The faculty and staff wish each student a fun and Christ-filled summer.

The school office will be open mornings only (9:00 a.m. to noon) during the summer.

Please keep the following dates in mind:  The Wyneken Association Annual meeting will be held on Monday, July 16, at 8:00 p.m. in Bingen’s Fellowship Hall.  School registration forms will be mailed out in mid-July.  School registration will be held on Tuesday, August 14, with the opening (half-day) of school to be on Monday, August 20.
