The Acolyte Jonathan Buuck

We remember those members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Ruby Werling, Mitzi Cale, Loren Hartmann, Krista Roseberry, Tami Schultz, David Blomenberg, Adam Buuck, Zac Lichtle, Sherri Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Nevin Bultemeier, Alicia Drier. We remember our Wyneken School Board, faculty, and staff as the 2000-2001 school year concludes this Wednesday as well as all other teachers in either the public or parochial system.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Jared Witte, while improving, remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital and Dawn Buuck who is recovering at home.

Congratulations to Elfurt & Adele Blomenberg who will celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday, May 29. We pray for the Lord's continued blessings upon this couple.

Included in this morning's bulletin is our weekly study guide, "Time in the Word." This week's theme is "God's Use of Language."

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday. The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (12,20) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times). The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 AM.

The men's softball team has two games this week. They play Zion, Decatur, on Tuesday, May 29, and on Wednesday, May 30, they face Ossian. Both games begin at 8:30 p.m. and are at Hoagland.

Next week we will begin our summer schedule. On the first Sunday of each month, two services will be offered. The first service begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the regular service at 9:00 a.m.  Holy Communion will be celebrated at both services.

The Sunday School picnic will be held on Sunday, June 3, following the second service.

Planning for Cornfusion III continues.  Please remember to plant extra for the produce stand this summer. Early season varieties were especially popular last year. We never seemed to have enough green beans, onions, zucchini, gourds, pumpkins, early tomatoes, and sweet corn (especially early and late season varieties to stretch our period of availability).  If you have any questions, please contact Ten Conrad at 724-8464.

LYF ushers for June are Dan Buuck and Drew Heckman.

There will be a door collection this morning to help the Orphan Grain Train. Information on this organization can be found on the insert included in this morning's bulletin.

Council Members:  You may pick up your May 1, 2001 Council Minutes this morning following the worship service.  The next Council meeting will be held on June 5.

Are you ready for some more of that delicious barbequed chicken? The 8111 grade class will again sponsor several dinners this year. The first one will be on Father's Day, June 17. Presale tickets will be available on June 3 and again on June 10. The cost is only $4 for half a chicken. Watch next week's bulletin to see from whom you may purchase tickets.

A call has been issued to Lowell Timm to serve as Wyneken's principal. He currently is principal and 5th & 6111 grade teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Woodworth (Milford, Illinois). We pray the Lord will guide him as he contemplates this call.

As the school year comes to a close, we recognize significant service anniversaries of our teachers.  Michelle Martin, out third grade teacher, celebrates 15 years of service in the Lord's work of teaching our children.  Mrs. Martin will be presented with a plaque recognizing this service milestone, along with a monetary gift. Rae Furhrnann, our kindergarten teacher, celebrates 25 years of service in the teaching ministry. In recognition of this major milestone, a tree will be planted at the school in her honor, and she will receive a monetary gift. In addition, we will be honoring Mrs. Fuhrmann at a luncheon open to all Association members on Sunday, June 3, at -Wyneken.  Mark your calendars for this chance to honor this dedicated servant who has touched so many of our lives and our children. We praise God for the dedication and love shown by these two and rest of our school faculty and staff.

God Loveth Thee

God loveth thee, then be content;
Whate'er thou hast, His love hath sent;
come pain or pleasure, good or ill,
His love is round about thee still.
Then murmur not, nor anxious be,
Rest thou in peace, God loveth thee!
