We thank Sandy Blomenberg and the choir for their gift of song this morning.  We have been blessed all year with their enhancement of our worship service with song.  The Lord's blessings remain on each and every one of them.

We remember those members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Judy Baumann, Cliff Buuck, Margaret Buuck, Leonard Fuhrmann, Bertha Witte, Madilyn Baumann, Nathan Bultemeier, Anna Franke, Julie Lehman, Peter Hess, Matt Knipstein, Ramona Black, and Derek Schultz. We remember our Resource Room teacher, Sara May, as well as our entire Sunday School staff.  We also remember Deb Miller who teaches at Concordia Elementary School.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their life.  We especially remember Jared Witte, while improving, remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital and Max Gilpin, Lisa Kiess’s father, who is a patient at Adams County Memorial Hospital.

Congratulations to Clarence & Irene Bultemeier who will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, May 25.  Their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren give the flowers on the altar to the glory of God and in honor of this special occasion with love and admiration.  May the Lord continue to bless this couple.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  Please take a few minutes to look over this material.  This week’s theme is “The Church of the Future.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio times).  The program airs Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 AM.

Make plans to attend our Ascension Day services this Thursday, May 24.   Services begin at 7:30 p.m. and Holy Communion will be celebrated.  The sermon will be “The Final Five Words.”

The men’s softball team has one game this week.  They play Union on Monday, May 21, at 8:30 p.m. at Hoagland.

Today is Sunday School Recognition Sunday.  We thank all those who made our Sunday School program a success—teachers, helpers, parents, and students, as well as our Sunday School Superintendent, Floyd Thieme, and the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Rich Weiland.  Your contribution is immeasurable.

Planning for Cornfusion III has begun.  Please remember to plant extra for the produce stand this summer.  Early season varieties were especially popular last year.  We never seemed to have enough green beans, onions, zucchini, gourds, pumpkins, early tomatoes, and sweet corn (especially early and late season varieties to stretch our period of availability).  If you have any questions, please contact Teri Conrad at 724-8464.

Confirmation proofs need to be returned tomorrow.  When all proofs and orders are returned, we can place the order with Sonshine Studios.

There will be an AAL meeting this morning following the worship service.

Wyneken News

A call has been issued to Lowell Timm to serve as Wyneken’s principal.  He currently is principal and 5th & 6th grade teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Woodworth (Milford, Illinois).  We pray the Lord will guide him as he contemplates this call.

Library inventory will be taken on Monday, May 21.  Contact Susie Ehlerding at 724-8760 if you would like to help.  There are still a few library books out.  Please turn these books in as soon as possible.

As the school year comes to a close, we recognize significant service anniversaries of our teachers.  Michelle Martin, out third grade teacher, celebrates 15 years of service in the Lord’s work of teaching our children.  Mrs. Martin will be presented with a plaque recognizing this service milestone, along with a monetary gift.  Rae Furhmann, our kindergarten teacher, celebrates 25 years of service in the teaching ministry.  In recognition of this major milestone, a tree will be planted at the school in her honor, and she will receive a monetary gift.  In addition, we will be honoring Mrs. Fuhrmann at a luncheon open to all Association members on Sunday, June 3, at Wyneken.  Mark your calendars for this chance to honor this dedicated servant who has touched so many of our lives and our children.  We praise God for the dedication and love shown by these two and rest of our school faculty and staff.

Market Day order forms need to be turned in by Tuesday, May 22;  Internet orders by noon, Wednesday, May 30.  Delivery date is Monday, June 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Your help is needed for next year’s Market Day.  Two people are needed to help with check-in and set-up (5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Market Day pick-up dates).  Contact Anne Fuhrmann at 547-4469 for more information. We wish to thank Anne and Stan Fuhrmann for all their involvement with Market Day.  They will be missed next year!

This is the last week of band for this year.  All music sheets and books should be returned to Mrs. Reed by Friday, May 25.  Two band parents are needed to take over the band chairman/treasurer job for the 2001-2002 school year.  Call Danielle Fuhrman at the school office (639-6177) if you have questions or are interested in this position.  We thank Danielle for all her work the past few years as she served in this position.

Fun Day is set for Friday, May 25, for our Pre-K (4) – 4th grade students.  If you would like to help, please contact the school office.  Come, and be a part of this special day for our younger students.

Don’t forget to get your SCRIP certificates this morning!  See Kim Weiland following the worship service.  Think of SCRIP when getting ready for the upcoming graduations, weddings, or other special occasions.  (The results of the SCRIP contest are in.  Total SCRIP sold was $33,597.70 with a profit of $1,909.69 to be given to Wyneken Expansion.  Soon the students will be treated with a pop and candy bar.  Thanks to all who participated!)

All lunch accounts were to be paid by last Friday.  If your account has not yet been paid or if you have questions concerning your account, please contact Darrel Ehlerding at 547-4229.

Eighth grade graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, at Preble.  Services begin at 8:00 p.m.

Plans for the last day of school include an Awards Ceremony that will begin at 8:30 a.m. with closing chapel to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30.  All are invited to attend this service.  Report cards will also be distributed that day.  Classes dismiss at 11:00 a.m.  There is no bus transportation home for any of our students.  Please make arrangements for them to get home that day.

The Lost & Found box is overflowing.  If you are at school, you may wish to look in this area.  Anything left at the end of the school year will be given to Goodwill.
