Announcements

We remember those members who will celebrate birthdays this week – Kim Schamerloh, Jenny Schamerloh, Don Erxleben, Hilda Bauermeister, Perry Caston, Tim Blomenberg, and Kayla Johnson.  We also remember our Wyneken aides, Kim Ehlerding, Hollie Hormann, and Thelma Standiford, as well as our school secretary, Danielle Fuhrman, in our prayers.  We also remember Rich Weiland, our Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and Dave Miller, who teaches in the public school, in our prayers.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We rejoice with Mark & Dian (Kukelhan) Witte on the birth of their son, Jared Alan, on Wednesday, April 25.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Joyce Heckman who is recovering at home after being a patient at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis and Jared Witte who is in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital.

We offer our Christian sympathy to the family and friends of Edmund Werling, Mary Gallmeyer’s father, who was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 26, and will be given Christian burial at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Ossian) this afternoon.  May the God of all comfort be with those who mourn and remind them of that glorious day when we will be reunited with them in heaven.

We rejoice with Gerhard and Dorothy Werling who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Saturday, May 5.  May the Lord continue to bless this couple.

The congregation is invited to attend the Open House in honor of Gerhard and Dorothy Werling’s 50th wedding anniversary. Please come to Preble Fireman’s Park Pavilion from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

Vicarage assignments have been made.  Bob Armao will serve his vicarage at Lutheran Homes in Ft. Wayne.  Jon Smithley will serve Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton, Colorado.  May the Lord bless them and their families as they begin this phase of their ministry.

Included in this morning’s bulletin is our weekly study guide, “Time in the Word.”  Please take a few minutes to look over this material.  This week’s theme is “The Identity of the Risen Jesus.”

Tune in to the Lutheran Hour next Sunday.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. (Ohio time) and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio time).  The program is also on Sundays at 8:05 a.m. on WZBD (92.7 FM) and again at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 AM.

If you haven’t picked up your flowers that were a part of the Easter Garden, please do so this morning.  The flowers will be in the basement furnace room.  Thanks again for all the donations to the Garden.

Greetings in Christ!

On behalf of Ruth, Chelsae, and Tyler, I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest gratitude to the members of Zion, Friedheim.  Two years ago, you welcomed us into your midst.  During that period, we have felt nothing but the love and support of a Christian family.  Although our vicarage assignment will take us away from you, we’d like you to know that you will never be far from our thoughts and prayers.  You have taught us so many lessons, and we will carry them with us throughout our ministry.  Finally, I’d like to say a personal word of thanks to Pastor Dahling, his family, and my fellow seminarians, with whom it has been my pleasure to serve.  Words cannot express how grateful I am to you for your support and encouragement.  God bless you and the loving members of this wonderful church.  In Christ,

Bob, Ruth, Chelsae, & Tyler Armao
