+ SOLI DEO GLORIA +

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Joyce Heckman who is scheduled for surgery on Monday and again on Friday at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Joy Erxleben, Teri Conrad, Brittany Franke, Meghann Manley, Deb Miller, Vanessa Robinson, and Tom Buuck.  We also remember our kindergarten teacher,  Rae Fuhrmann, as  well as Shelly Kiefer, one of our Sunday School teachers, and  Christine Bultemeier who teaches in the public school in our prayers.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for the week is "Holy Week."

Join us this week as we walk with the Savior as He brings us salvation and life.  On Maundy Thursday, two services will be offered.  At noon, there will be a service of meditations on the Lord's Supper from Luther's Small Catechism.  At 7:30 p.m., the service is based on Martin Luther's service.  The sermon is "A Truly New Covenant" based upon 1 Corinthians 11:23-34.  Holy Communion will be celebrated at both services.  At 1:00 p.m. on Good Friday there will be a service of readings, hymns, and prayers.  This will be a series of short meditations on the suffering and death of Christ.  At 7:30 p.m. there will be a Good Friday Service of Darkness with Holy Communion.  The sermon will be "Father Forgive Them" from Luke 23:34.

Listen to  The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of  Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m.  The program can also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WBZD (92.7 FM) and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090).  Tune in to hear Dr. Dale Meyer's sermon, "Yes, Jesus Loves Me!"  When the doctor's  diagnosis is terminal, the world can only offer hopes that will be proven false.  This Easter day we celeberate the fact that Christ's resurrection offers a sure and certain hope for every situation in life.  "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5).

Palm Sunday, for many of us, is a  the date when took our confirmation vows.  This morning we will reaffirm those vows as we remember this important event in our lives.

Just a reminder that the LYF will have a gym night on tonight  from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Plans will be made for the Easter breakfast that day also.  The freshmen are asked to bring one gallon of orange juice to the breakfast while all other classes are to bring one dozen donuts or rolls to the Easter breakfast.  Set up time for the breakfast will be announced at gym night.  All youth group members need to be at the Parish Hall at 6:00 a.m. on Easter morning.

Thanks to all who have volunteered to bake cakes to be taken to Lutheran Home to help  the residents celebrate their April birthdays.  Just remember  to have the cakes in the church basement by noon on Tuesday, April 10.

Tickets for the annual Lutheran Home Card Party are available from Margaret Buuck.  Date for this event is April 18 beginning at 1:30 p.m. and will be held  in Assembly Hall at Lutheran Home.  Tickets are $3.

Stay and attend our Quarterly Meeting today following the worship service.
