The Readings Opposition to the Word of God
Jeremiah 1:4-10  God promises to deliver those who fear the Lord
1 Corinthians 12:27 - 13:13 The solution to opposition is love
Luke 4:20-32 Nazareth rejects Jesus for preaching the truth

"Can you handle the Truth ?"
Luke 4:20-32

The Truth hurts because...

1. it exposes our jealousy.
2.
it convicts us of sin.
3. it reveals our selfishness.
4. Those oppressed by sin find liberty in Christ

The Acolyte Matt Nidlinger

+ SOLI DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Jim Crosby, Matt DeKoninck, Andrew Werling, Karl King, Nan Nidlinger, Sabrina Putteet, Karen Conrad, Lisa Kiess, Laura Knipstein, Jim Fuhrman, Allyssa Johnson, and Walter Droege.   We also remember our 7th grade teacher at Wyneken, Marvin Drier, as well as Bonnie Buuck, one of our Sunday School teachers, in our prayers.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember in our prayers Barb Geyer who was a patient at Adams County Memorial Hospital this past week but has returned  home.

We rejoice with Dan & Amy (Foreman) Schuller who were blessed with a baby boy, Christopher Daniel, who was born on Friday, January 19, at Caylor-Nickel Medical Center.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

We remember in our prayers the friends and family of Emerson Wass, father of Dean Wass, who was called to his heavenly home last Sunday and was given Christian burial on Thursday, January 25.  We also remember in our prayers the friends and family of Vena Mart, sister of Gary Knipstein, who was also called to her heavenly home last Sunday and was given Christian burial on Friday, January 26.  May the God of all comfort be with them as they mourn.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for the week is "The Call to Discipleship."
