EPIPHANY means "manifestation" or "appearance."  It is the season which highlights many of the epiphanies of God in human flesh (to the wisemen, at His Baptism, His miracles, His transfiguration.)  It is a season which also sets forth Christ as the Light of the World and mission outreach to all peoples.  As Christ manifests Himself today in the Lord's Supper, His forgiveness empowers us to Walk in His Light and witness of Him to a world sitting in darkness.  Since God's Word teaches that doctrinal unity is central to the common reception of the Lord's Supper, here at Zion-Friedheim we practice closed communion.  Guests desiring to commune are asked to speak with the Pastor before the service.

The door collection for the Concordia Theological Seminary will be next week, Sunday, January 14.  This morning we will be having a door collection for a memorial for Lara Schultz, the granddaughter of Walter Nuerge and daughter of Reverend Roger Nuerge; the memorial monies will be to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Sheila Puteet, Davon Bultemeier, Waldo Conrad, Kris Blomenberg, Lori Caston, Dennis Schuller, Alyssa Foreman, Spencer Scheumann, Jacob Lee, Michael Brandt,  David Miller & Tami Stoppenhagen.  We also remember our principal at Wyneken, Dean Wass, as well as Monica Stoppenhagen, who teaches in the public school, in our prayers.   In addition, we  remember Kris Blomenberg, one of our Sunday School teachers, in our prayers.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember in our prayers Andy Buuck  who is in Intensive Care at Lutheran Hospital.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for the week is "God's Glory Manifested in Transforming Power".
