Zion-Friedheim Evangelical Lutheran Church

We welcome you to Friedheim to worship with us this morning.  If you are a visitor, please take a moment to sign one of our guest registries which are located in both entry ways.   If you wish to commune this morning, please complete a communion registration card.  There are cards in either entrance way of the church.  You may place the card in the offering plate or give it to one of the Deacons.  Please worship with us again soon.

+ SOLI DEO GLORIA +

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week – Markie Mourey, Alex Baumann, Cheryl Bultemeyer, Bernice Caston, and Todd Gehres.  We also remember our Pre-K teacher, Anne Hess, as well as Christine Bultemeier who teaches in the public school.  In addition, we remember Kent Kiefer, one of our Sunday School teachers.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are  in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Hildegard Kiefer who has been transferred to Adams County (Extended Care) Hospital for rehabilitation.

We also remember Tony & Claudia Jordan who celebrated their first wedding anniversary last Monday, December 4.  May the Lord continue to bless this couple.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "Reasons to Rejoice."

Make plans to attend our midweek Advent service at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday, December 13.  Our Seminarian, Jon Smithley, will deliver the sermon message.

The LYF will serve a spaghetti supper prior to the midweek Advent service on the 13th.  The congregation is invited to come to the Parish Hall for good food and fellowship.  Serving will begin at 6:00 p.m.  The meal will include spaghetti, lettuce, applesauce, breadsticks, pie, cake, and a drink.  A free will donation will be accepted.

LYF members are each to bring one jar of spaghetti sauce as well as one pie.  (The sophomores are to bring a cake, however.)  LYF members should be at the Parish Hall at 5:00 p.m. on the 13th to set up.

Listen to The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m.  The program can also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WBZD (92.7 FM) and at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090).

The Bereavement Committee wishes to thank all those who donated items for the Schroeder funeral.  Your dishes may be picked up in the church basement.

We wish to thank Ben and Norma Miller for the donation of the American flag that will be flown in front of the Parish Hall.  The flag was donated in honor of Henry C. Miller who served in WW I and Truman Krueckeberg who served in WW II.

There are less than 50 cookbooks left and only 13 “Hints” books available.  If you wish to purchase any for the holiday giving, you may wish to do so soon.  Cookbooks cost $8 each while the “Hints” book is $4.  Just a reminder that the Cookbook Committee wanted to close their books on November 30.  Please turn in your money and/or the remaining cookbooks to the committee member from whom you received the books.  Thanks!  Questions?  Contact one of the committee members – Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, or Sylvia Scheumann.

The AAL will meet in the back of church following the worship service this morning.

Christmas Eve program practice continues in church this morning following the worship service.  Students in Mrs. Bonnie Buuck’s class will not practice in church but will go to the Parish Hall for class (and practice).  Parents, if for some reason your child did not receive their program part, please contact Pastor Dahling or Floyd Thieme.

The Morning Glories would like to thank all that helped at the Wyneken bazaar by working at the booth, transporting items, or donating items to the show.  It was a very successful show with sales of $549.  The Morning Glories will not meet again until January 9.

The men’s basketball team has a game this Monday at Bellmont Middle School at 8:30 p.m.  They will play St. Paul (Preble).
