We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Erik Blomenberg, Carrie Robinson, Becky DeKoninck, Melyssa Bultemeier, Gene Linnemeier, Helma Conrad, Joyce King, Monica Stoppenhagen, Pat Buuck, Norma Miller, Carol Selking, and Jason Putteet.   We also remember our 2nd grade teacher, Emily Norder, as well as Addy Schuller who teaches at Bethlehem (Ossian), in our prayers.  Today we also remember one of our Sunday School teachers, Shelly Kiefer.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Hilda Scheumann, Richard Buuck's sister, who was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 7, and was given Christian burial on Friday, November 10.  May the God of all comfort be with those who mourn.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We rejoice with Chad and Erin Fuhrman on the birth of their daughter, Aubrey Louise, on Thursday, November 2.   We also congratulate Scott and Kim Gehres on the birth of their daughter, Abigail Ann, on Monday, November 6.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on these most precious of His lambs.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "Saints Triumphant."

Listen to The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of  Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m.  The program can also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WBZD (92.7 FM) and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090).

There are still some cookbooks left.  If you wish to purchase any for holiday giving, you may wish to do so soon.  The Helpful Hints Almanac is also  available.  Cookbooks are $8 while the Almanac is $4.  Questions?  Please contact one of the committee members (Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, or Sylvia Schuemann).

Nut and candy orders can be picked up in the church basement following the worship service this morning.  Didn't get your order in?  There are extras available.  You may make a purchase this morning.  Questions?  Check with Mary Gallmeyer or Becky DeKoninck.

The Altar Guild will meet on Tuesday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m.  New members are always welcome!  Just a reminder that items for the Thanksgiving display should be at church by noon on Tuesday, November 21.

It's time for bids to be submitted for Parish Hall custodian, church custodian, and groundskeeper.   Bids are to be given to one of our Trustees (Dale Heckman, Sean Sielschott, Tom DeKoninck, or Calvin Buuck)  by December 1.   Job descriptions are available.   Any questions, please contact one of the Trustees.

Christians should not be involved in all the moral and social issues that threaten our country, we should just try to live our lives as best we can and trust God to take care of all the problems out there...right?  Wrong, He commands us to be "salt and light': how much patience does He have for us as His children?  Come, join us at our Lutherans for Life meeting at Zion, Decatur, on Sunday, November 19, at 1:30 p.m.

Anthony Blvd., is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a special "Homecoming" event on November 25-26.  On Saturday,  November 25, an open house will be held in the gym from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. displaying highlights of its 75 years.  Don Wharton will be in concert on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.  On Sunday, November 26, special services are being held at 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with a luncheon served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The luncheon is free, but a reservation is requested by November 19 by calling the church office at 744-3228.

Here is some "food for thought."

So long as there are homes that pray,
We still can hope;
The nation will not lose its way
Nor in the darkness grope;
For He shall go before who is the Light
And guide its steps aright.

So long as there are homes
Whose anchors hold
Faith and hope and love
And courage bold;
And there is strength to labor and patience to endure,
A nation is secure.

So long as there are homes with fires
Of faith aglow;
That seek God's way and follow where
His banners go;
And women pray, and men to God draw nigh
A nation cannot die.
