LWML Sunday

+ In Nomine Jesu +

The Invocation

P:       In the Name of the one true God, the Father Almighty;

C:      Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.

P:       And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God

C:       Begotten of His Father before all worlds,

P:       God of God, Light of Light,

C:       Begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made;

P:       And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

C:      Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified.

The Hymn of Praise

TLH #19, vv. 1-3 "All Praise to God, Who Reigns Above"

The Confession and Absolution

P:       Beloved in the Lord!  Let us draw near to God with a true heart and confess our sins to our  Heavenly Father asking Him in the Name and for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive  us our sins.

C:          Almighty God, merciful Father, I confess to you that I am by nature sinful.  I have disobeyed  you and justly deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.  But I am truly sorry for  the evil I have thought, spoken, and done, and for the sake of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray:   "Lord have mercy on me for I am a sinner."

The Pronouncement of God's Absolution P:       God, our Heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given His only Son to be the  atoning sacrifice for our sins.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are made to be His  children by grace through faith as the Scripture proclaim, "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved!"  Lord, may this salvation be granted unto all of us.

                           In fervent gratitude for the Savior's dying love and His blood-bought  gift of redemption, we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest field, we pledge Him our willing service wherever and whenever He hath need of us.  We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and gold to extend His kingdom, our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him.  Amen.

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Dawn Heckman, Dan Bushee, Marvene Buuck, Robert Hartmann, Jenny Spangler, Shayla Lee, Sylvia Scheumann, Breanna Amsbury, and Mary Gallmeyer.  We also remember one of our Wyneken 6th grade teachers, Rich Schwantz, as well as Cindy Des Jean who teaches in the public school, in our prayers.  Today we also remember one of our Sunday School teachers, Monica Stoppenhagen.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in honor of  Dick & Alma Miller who are  celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.  The flowers  were placed there with love and admiration from their children and grandchildren. May they continue to receive God's richest blessings.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "The Faith of the Christian."  If you have any comments about this program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

Listen to  The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on Sunday on WLW (700) out of  Cincinnati at 7:00 a.m. (Ohio time) and on Van Wert stations WERT (1220) and WKSD (99.7 FM) at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio time).  The program can also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WBZD (92.7 FM) and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090).

Staffing needs at the maze are ongoing.  Make sure you check your calendars and sign up on the sheets in either entrance way of the church to work at the maze.  You may also call someone on the Staffing Committee - Tim Blomenberg, Leesa Heckman, or Lester Werling.

Have you purchased our new church cookbook yet?  The cookbook committee will be outside of church following the morning worship service.  This will give you an opportunity to look over the book and purchase one if you wish.  The Helpful Hints Almanac will also be available for you to look over and purchase.  Cookbooks are $8 while the Almanac is $4.  Would you be willing to take some books to work to sell?  You may sign out some books and then pay for them when they are sold.  Please contact one of the committee members (Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, or Sylvia Schuemann).  The cookbooks are also available at the maze.

The Haunted Maze needs portable boom boxes with continuous play or auto reverse cassette tape players.  If you can loan these items to the committee, please contact Judy Werling (639-6132).

The Foods Committee is asking for donations through October.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew), as well as, bottled water are  needed  along with hot dogs, hamburger, and nacho chips.  Cash donations are also being accepted.  You may bring your donations to church or contact any member of the Foods Committee - Dorothy Heckman, Denise Conrad, Mary Gallmeyer, or Tami Stoppenhagen.  They would be more than willing to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

It's time to select new "Prayer Partners."  There are extra forms  in the entrance way of the church for you to complete and place it in the basket in the entranceway of the church. You may take out one name if you placed a name  in the basket.  If you participated in this program last year, it is now time to reveal your name to your "Prayer Partner."  Although this program is sponsored by the LWML, this is "not for women only."  All adult members of the congregation are encouraged to participate.

There will be a door collection this morning for our LWML.   The funds will be used to defer the cost of sending Friedheim's delegates to the Indiana District convention.

There will be a large mite box placed in the south entrance way of the church for your convenience to place your mite box donations.  Also the LWML will distribute mite boxes to the Sunday School children so that they can be introduced to saving for missions.

The old sidewalk slabs in front of the Parish Hall have been removed and are available to anyone who can use them.  Please pick them up as soon as possible.  Thanks to those who helped prepare the site and poured the new sidewalks.  This will make the building even more accessible.
