We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Rachelle Buuck, Velma Schuller, Bethany Evans, Jerry Kock, Dennis Werling, Andrew Blomenberg, Beth McCloskey, Megan Schamerloh, Mike Werling, and Brett Hormann.  We also remember our Wyneken resourse room teacher, Sarah May, as well as Toney Bergman who teaches in the public school, in our prayers.  We also remember all grandparents, on this Grandparent's Day, for the blessings they contribute to their family's lives.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

For Rally Day, we remember our Sunday School staff in our prayers today.  Our staff members are: Bonnie Buuck--Preschool & Kindergarten, Lisa Lee & Shelly Kiefer--1st & 2nd Grades, Kris Blomenberg & Shirley Drier--3rd & 4th Grades, Teri Conrad & Stan Stoppenhagen--5th & 6th Grades, Monica Stoppenhagen & Kent Kiefer--7th & 8th Grades, and Floyd Thieme--Superintendent.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember Rosa Hartmann who is in Adams County's Extended Care Unit (Room 207).

We remember the family and friends of Velma Franke, sister of Richard Miller, who was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 6, and given a Christian burial on Friday, September 8.  May the God of all comfort be with those who mourn and remind them of that great day when they will be reunited with their loved one in heaven..

We welcome into membership, through the Sacrament of Baptism, Carrington Janae Bultemeier, daughter of Corbin and Lisa (Baumgartner) Bultemeier.   Serving as sponsors are Amy Patten, Elaine Bultemeier and Tonya Bultemeyer.  We also welcome into membership, Freddie Ray Geels, son of Fred and Tina (Whitacre) Geels.  He will be received through the Sacrament of Baptism this afternoon.  Serving as sponsors are Timothy and Kristine Blomenberg.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

We also remember in our prayers Harvey & Bernice Caston who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 16.  May they continue to receive God's richest blessings.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "Incarnating the Christ"  If you have any comments about this program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

The LYF will meet following the worship service Today.  Two items on the agenda are working at the maze and scheduling a gym night.

My family and I wish to thank each of you for the support and kindness you have shown us since the death of my wife, Esther.  Your prayers, your presence, your cards, gifts and expressions of sympathy have all been appreciated.  A special thank you to Pastor Dahling for all the counsel and comfort he gave to Esther and continues to give to us.

                                                                                                Walter Nuerge & Family

I would like to thank you all for the prayers during my brother's stay in intensive care in the hospital and also after his death.  A special thank you to Pastor Dahling for his support, when all the family needed him so much, especially me.  What a blessing he is to all of us!

Carolyn Hitzfield and the Vernon Arden Bowers Family

The Bible says, "Do not love the world, nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - (1 John 2:15)  Christianity is not a different lifestyle; it's an entirely now life, one that is focused on the future.  Hear Rev. Wallace Schulz's message, "Keep Looking Ahead" - (Genesis 19:16) on the The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO beginning at 7:35 a.m.  It's also on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

The cookbooks have arrived!  The cookbooks are priced at $8 each.  There is also a "Helpful Hints" booklet for sale at $4 per booklet.  If you are willing to take some cookbooks to work or your business or wish to purchase one, please contact any member of the cookbook committee - Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, or Sylvia Scheumann.  The cookbooks will also be available at the corn maze.

Staffing needs at the maze are ongoing.  Make sure you check your calendars and sign up on the sheets in either entrance way of the church to work at the maze.  You may also call someone on the Staffing Committee - Tim Blomenberg, Leesa Heckman, or Lester Werling.

The Foods Committee is asking for donations through October.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew) as well as bottled water are  needed  along with hot dogs, hamburger, and nacho chips.  Cash donations are also being accepted.  You may bring your donations to church or contact any member of the Foods Committee - Dorothy Heckman, Denise Conrad, Mary Gallmeyer, or Tami Stoppenhagen.  They would be more than willing to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

There will be an AAL meeting following the worship service this morning.

Council Members:  Minutes from the August 1, 2000 Council Meeting are in your slots in the entrance way of church for Council meeting on TUESDAY. Please pick up your copy as you leave the worship service today.
