The Acolyte Amy Erxleben

We thank Bob Armao for delivering this morning's sermon message.  May the Lord continue to bless him as he continues his studies for the ministry.

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Chad Fuhrman, Evie Fuhrman, Shelli Spangler, Danielle Falk, Brandon Miller, Benjamin Miller, and Randy Moellering.   May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.   We especially remember Eric Bultemeier, son of Leonard and Christine Bultemeier, who is at IU Medical Center.

We remember Beth Blomenberg and Scott McCloskey who were married on July 11 in Hawaii.  May the Lord bless them as they begin their lives together.

Pastor Dahling is conducting services this morning at Concordia High School.  This is in celebration of his 25th class reunion.

There will be an AAL meeting following the worship service this morning.  The meeting will be held in the back of church.

Most Americans are well-fed and yet they still complain.  They find life meaningless and without hope.  God offers spiritual nourishment through His Word.  Hear Rev. Wallace Schulz's   message, "When Nothing Else Satisfies,"  on the The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO beginning at 7:35 a.m.  It's also on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "God Loves You."  If you have any comments about this new program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

The men's softball team has four games this week.  They'll face Fuelling on Tuesday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday and Thursday, July 19 and 20,  at 8:30 p.m.  All games are at Hoagland.   They'll also play Soest at Decatur on Friday, July 21, at 8:30 p.m.

Ladies, do you remember receiving a mite box?  It's now time to start collecting those mites.  A box is in the entrance way of the church for you to deposit your mites.  You may also bring them with you to the next LWML meeting which will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.   The guest speaker that evening will be Kim Roeske, a missionary (along with her husband, Todd) to the Tagakaulo people in southern Philippines.  Come and hear about her experiences.  There will also be reports concerning the recent convention.   Everyone is welcome to attend.  (Yes, gentlemen, please come and learn more about the missionary work in the Philippines!)

Soon the maze will be open.  The Foods Committee is asking for donations.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew) are  needed.  Hot dogs and hamburger (40 lbs.) are also on the request list.  If you would prefer to give cash and let the committee make the purchase, that would also be helpful.  You may bring your donations to church or contact any member of the Foods Committee - Dorothy Heckman, Denise Conrad, Mary Gallmeyer, or Tami Stoppenhagen.  They would be more than willing to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Since the entry area for the maze is on grass this year, the idea was to use picnic tables rather than straw bales for seating.  If you could lend your picnic tables to the maze from August through October, please let Judy Werling  (639-6132) know as soon as possible.  A group may be needed to build some if enough tables are loaned.

Camp Lutherhaven's annual chicken dinner will be held today.

The cookbook "proofs" have been returned from the printer.  This project is on (or ahead) of schedule.  If you would be willing to take any cookbooks to work or your place of business, please contact a member of the committee - Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, Sylvia Scheumann.   Thanks in advance for your help!

Take some time to complete the insert in this morning's bulletin concerning the staffing needed for Cornfusion.  To make the maze run smoothly, it takes a commitment from our membership to help staff the maze each weekend.  Please look at your calendars and volunteer when you can.  Everyone's contribution of time is needed.

The Camp Watcha Wanna Do coed slow pitch softball tournament will be held this Saturday, July 22, at Hoagland with ball games beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Additional games and activities, including a raffle, are being planned for this year.  Come out and support this worthy cause.

Velma Schuller and family would like to thank everyone for their support, cards, and prayers at the death of Ervin.  Special thanks to Pastor Dahling for his encouragement and guidance.  Also the family appreciated the wonderful meal the Bereavement Committee planned and served.  Thanks to all who volunteered food items and their valuable time.

Wyneken News

The Hot Lunch Committee is looking for a third cook.  Please contact Mike Werling (724-9383) for more details.

Two triangular-shaped dollies are missing from the storage room at school.  They are used to move the teachers' desks.  If you know where they are, please contact Kim Ehlerding, the Wyneken custodian, at 547-4229.  If the dollies aren't returned soon, new ones will need to be purchased.

School will be closed from Monday, July 24, to Thursday, August 3.  The floors are being waxed and will need to dry.  Thanks so much for your cooperation.

See Kris Blomenberg or Becky DeKoninck after the worship service this morning if you wish to purchase some SCRIP.  Look at the hotels, gas stations, and restaurants that are participants in SCRIP while making your vacation plans.   Great news!  Glenbrook gift certificates (with a return of 4%) will be available mid-July.  Just think of the possibilities.  These certificates are good for all stores at Glenbrook Square and Glenbrook Commons.  Keep this in mind when doing that back-to-school shopping as well as looking at those end-of-summer bargains.

A special thanks to all who purchased chicken last Sunday from the 8th graders--they sold out!!  Your support is very much appreciated!

The Annual Wyneken Association Meeting will be held on Monday, July 17, at 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Bingen.   Please plan to attend.  One of the items to be discussed is the proposed expansion.

School registration forms will be mailed out mid-July.  Start watching your mail box.  Registration day will be held on Tuesday, August 15, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
