Announcements

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Wally Bultemeier, P. J. DeKoninck, Kolton Everett; Jessica P. Linnemeier, Cassie Conrad, Andy Buuck, Scott Hormann, Megan Selking, and Candace Sielschott.   May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We remember the family and friends of Ervin Schuller who was called to his heavenly home on Monday, June 12, and was given Christian burial on Wednesday, June 14.  May the  God of all comfort be with those who mourn and remind them of that glorious day when they will be reunited with their loved one.

We thank Lydia Dahling for sharing her gift of song with us this morning.  May the Lord continue to bless her.

We remember those members of the LWML who are returning home today  from the LWML Convention in Evansville, Indiana.  We pray for their safety as well as the success of the convention.

We rejoice with Ramona Bultemeier and Riley Black who were married yesterday at our altar.  May the loving Savior be the head of their household and bless them as they begin their life together.

Pastor and his family will be taking a well-deserved vacation beginning next week and continuing through July 2.  If you are in need of pastoral care, please contact Rev. Daniel Brege of Preble.  May Pastor and his family have a relaxing and safe trip.

We also remember in our prayers Sean Esterline, our former field worker, who will be ordained next Sunday, June 25.  The ordination will take place in Chicago, Illinois.  We pray that the Lord will bless his ministry.

Why not turn over to God some of the things that keep you awake at night?  "He gives His beloved sleep" (Psalm 127:2).  Hear Dr. Meyer's  message, "A Sermon to Help You Sleep," on the The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m.  It's also on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

There are just a few seats left for the Chicago Bus Trip on Saturday, July 1.  If you would like to attend, please return your reservation form as soon as possible.  The cost is $35.   The bus will be leaving from Southtown Mall (by Sears)  at 6:45 a.m. and return at 10:00 p.m.  Questions?  Contact Cindy Berning (459-6883).

LYF Members:   Don't forget that your help is needed at our Hoagland Days booth.  Hours for the booth are 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00  p.m. on Friday, June 23, and noon to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.  Parents, your help will also be needed especially on Saturday since Corbin & Lisa have other commitments on that day as well.  A letter was mailed to each youth group member on Friday to give the youth and their parents more information about this project.  There will be a short meeting following the worship service today to go over any questions you still may have.   Parents, please let Corbin & Lisa know when you can help supervise.

The 3rd Annual Friedheim Open will be held this Saturday, June 24, at Cross Creek in Decatur.

Be sure you attend the meeting concerning expansion at Wyneken this Tuesday, June 20.  This  will be an informational open meeting at the Wyneken gym from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  (Please note the date and location of the open meeting has been changed.)  On the 20th, you will have an opportunity to look at the proposed expansion plans, ask questions, and give your input.

The men's softball team has one game this week.  They'll face Fuelling on Tuesday, June 20, at 8:30 p.m. at Hoagland.

Soon the maze will be open.  The Foods Committee has met and is beginning to take donations.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew) are especially needed.  Hot dogs and hamburger (40 lbs.) are also on the request list.  If you would prefer to give cash and let the committee make the purchase, that would also be helpful.  You may bring your donations to church or contact Tami Stoppenhagen (728-9101) for her to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "Sabbath Day Law."  If you have any comments about this new program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

Thanks for the cards received on my 90th birthday celebration and also for coming to the open house.  May the Lord bless you. -- Hilda Bauermeister

Wyneken News

Mr. Scott Helming, principal of Trinity Lutheran School, Lansing, Illinois has been issued a three-year renewable call to be principal of Wyneken.   We ask you to keep him in your prayers.  Should you desire to encourage him, you may contact him at Trinity Lutheran School, 18144 Glen Terrace, Lansing, IL  60438.

Thanks to all those who helped on "Painting Day" as well as "School Clean-Up Day."  Your help was very much appreciated.

If you need to contact Mr. Krupski, he will be in the school office (mornings only) through June 30.

See Kris Blomenberg or Becky DeKoninck after the worship service this morning if you wish to purchase some SCRIP.  Look at the hotels, gas stations, and restaurants that are participants in SCRIP while making your vacation plans.   Gordon's is the newest participant in SCRIP; however, you don't need to buy certificates prior to visiting the store.  Gordon's program works as follows:  you will receive an identification card which you scan when purchasing items.  Wyneken will be credited (up to 10%, depending on volume) on items classified as  "Fun Foods."   Gordon's will then issue a check to Wyneken at the end of each month for purchases made during that month.  You may pay for your purchases with cash, check, or credit card.  Application forms are available from Kris Blomenberg.  Please fill one out and mail it in.
