We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Daniel Linnemeier, Jon Gallmeyer, Mike Selking, Sam Baumann, Denise Conrad, Devin Sielschott, Joe Gorman, Jessica Linnemeier, Kevin Schultz, Kim Fuhrmann, Cynthia Bultemeier, and Glenn Buuck.  We remember our entire Sunday School staff.  We thank them for their dedicated service.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We remember Delmar and Joyce Heckman in our prayers as they celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary on Monday, June 5.  May the Lord continue to bless this couple.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember Margaret Kiefer and Dick Miller who underwent surgery this past week.  May the Lord guard and keep them in His care.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in honor of the 90th birthday of Hilda Bauermeister.

Tune in to The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m.  It's also   on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.  

The congregation is invited to an open house today at the Hoagland Hayloft from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in honor of Hilda Bauermeister's 90th birthday. 

The Sunday School picnic will be held following the 9:00 a.m. worship service this morning.

The 3rd Annual Friedheim Open will be held on Saturday, June 24, at Cross Creek in Decatur.  Cost for a four-person team is $100.  A meal will again be served.  Registrations need to be returned by June 10.  If you have questions or would like to be a sponsor, please contact Paul Des Jean or Gene Kiess.

There are still seats left on the bus for the Chicago Bus Trip on Saturday, July 1.  If you would like to attend please return your reservation form as soon as possible.  The cost is $35.  You may enjoy the 20th annual "Taste of Chicago" and/or the 10th annual "Country Music Festival." in dowtown Chicago.  Shopping and museums are also nearby.  Headliners at the country music festival include Randy Travis and Ty Herndin.  Of course, there will also   be other performers that day as well.  There will also be free line dancing lessons all day long.  Questions?  Contact Cindy Berning (459-6883).

Two important meetings will be held in June concerning the expansion at Wyneken.   On Thursday, June 15, there will be a joint meeting of the church councils from Bingen, Preble, and Friedheim.  They will meet at 8:00 p.m. at Bingen's Fellowship Hall.  On Monday, June 19, there will be an informational open meeting at Bingen's Fellowship Hall from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  On the 19th, you will have an opportunity to look at the proposed expansion plans, ask questions, and give your input.

There will be an LYF meeting following the worship service Sunday, June 11.  One of the items to be discussed is the booth at Hoagland Days.

The men's softball team has two games this week.  They face Union on Mon-day, June 5, at 7:00 p.m. and Bingen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7.  Both games will be played at Hoagland.

As you are planting your gardens, don't forget to plant extra for the Cornfusion Produce Stand.  We're planning on opening in mid-June.  All kinds of produce is needed, even zucchini!  Call Teri Conrad (724-8464) if you have questions.

Don't forget to bring items for the LWML ingathering to church by Sunday, June 11.  The Evansville Rescue Mission and School Kits for Haiti are the recipients of the ingathering.  Items needed (Rescue Mission) are men's underwear, men's T-shirts, socks, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razors, and shaving cream and (School Kits) children's vitamins, 8" x 11" ruled paper (100-150 sheets), blunt scissors, ruler (centimeter & inches), pencil sharpener, eraser, six pencils with erasers, and gallon Ziploc freezer bag.

Mark Saturday, June 24, on your calendar.  This is AAL night at the Wizards.  The game begins at 6:00 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased from Kathy Bultemeier for $5 until June 16.

There are some copies of the Lutheran Layman's League's  newspaper, The Lutheran Layman, in both entry ways.  The paper provides information about Lutheran Hour Ministries.  If you are not a Lutheran Layman's League member, this is an excellent opportunity to become familiar with its programs.  Please take a paper home with you.

Lutheran Home Auxiliary is sponsoring their 4th annual chicken barbecue dinner on Friday, June 16, with serving from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lutheran Homes.  Carry  outs are available.  The meal consists of one-half chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, cake, and lemonade.  Advance tickets are $5 with tickets at the door $5.50.  Presale tickets can be purchased from Margaret Buuck.

The Decatur Fastpitch Softball League is sponsoring a four-man Florida Scramble on Saturday, July 15, at the Grey Goose Golf Club.  It will be a shotgun start beginning at 7:00 a.m.  The cost is $40 per person (18 holes & 2 carts).  A sandwich will be served on the tenth hole.  Registration forms are due by June 8 and should be returned to Dale Gallmeyer.   Registration forms are in either entrance way and will also be included in the June newsletter.

Wyneken News

Mr. Scott Helming, principal of Trinity Lutheran School, Lansing, Illinois has been issued a three-year renewable call to be principal of Wyneken. Market Day pick-up date is  Monday, June 5,  from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Wyneken cafeteria. 

The deadline to register for the 3 year old Pre-K class as well as the 4/5 year old Pre-K class is June 15.

If you need to contact Mr. Krupski, he will be in the school office (mornings only) through June 30.

Calendars for the 2000-2001 school year were sent home with the students last Friday.  Please note that there has been a change in the dismissal time when there are half-days of school.  School will dismiss at 12:25 p.m.  Lunch will be served.

The faculty and staff of Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School wish all students a fun-filled as well as a Christ-filled summer.  See you Monday, August 21, the first day of school (half-day)!
