Announcements

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Amy Erxleben, Tammy Dahling, Dirk Stoppenhagen, Julie Heimann, and Josh Miller. In addition, we remember in our prayers our Wyneken first/second split grade teacher, Becky Klenke, and one of our public school teachers, Monica Stoppenhagen.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We welcome Sam & Elaine Derrow as the newest members of Friedheim.  Sam completed adult instruction on March 9 while Elaine comes to us with a profession of faith.  May the Lord bless them in their new church home.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

Congratulations to Daniel Schuller and Amy Foreman who were married at the Lord's Altar yesterday afternoon, March 11.  May Christ be the center of their lives as they begin their lives together.  May the Lord continue to bless them.

We also remember Mark and Kay Jackson in our prayers as they will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this Wednesday, March 15.  God's continued blessings on this couple.

"Road rage" is no a growing concern nationwide.  Rev. Wallace Schulz explains the attitude God desires for you as you navigate your way through daily life.  Hear Dr. Schulz's message, "God's Advice in Heavy Traffic,"  on The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. and  at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

Our midweek Lenten services continue with services at noon and 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15.  The theme for this week is "The Attitude of Suffering."  At noon, the sermon text is based upon Genesis 28:10-17, "God comforts Jacob while fleeing from Esau."  At 7 p.m. the sermon will be "Christians rejoice in their suffering for Christ" from Romans 5:1-11.

Come and enjoy delicious homemade soup, sandwiches, salads, and desserts today.  Serving begins at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until 1:00 p.m. at the Wyneken gym.  A free will offering will be accepted.  There will also be a craft and bake sale.  All profits from this year's dinner will go towards making the Parish Hall handicap accessible.

There will be no Sunday School or Bible Class this morning due to the Soup and Sandwich Dinner.  Classes will resume next week.

LYF Members:  The youth will be serving drinks at the Soup & Sandwich today.  The sophomores and seniors will work the first shift (10:30 a.m. to  11:45 a.m.) and the freshmen and juniors will work the second shift (11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.).

The LYF will host a spaghetti supper prior to the March 22 midweek Lenten service.  Serving will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  A free will offering will be accepted.  LYF members need to be at the Parish Hall no later than 5:00 p.m. on the 22nd.  Each member needs to bring one medium jar of spaghetti sauce.  Also each LYF member is asked to bring a pie except for the seniors who should each bring a cake.

The LYF will also be assisting residents of Lutheran Home to their worship service  Sunday, April 2.  The LYF will meet at the Parish Hall at 9:00 a.m. and then go to Lutheran Homes.  After that worship service, the LYF will head to Pizza Hut for lunch and a short meeting.

Just wanted to remind all members that before taking chairs, tables, roasters, coffee pots, or other items from the Parish Hall or church to please check with the Parish Hall custodian.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

There will be a Special Voters' Meeting next Sunday, March 19, following the worship service.  Two items will be on the agenda -- the status of the roof replacement project and a discussion concerning the north chimney.  The Council recommends that this chimney be removed.

The Tabea Society will have extra quilting this Wedensday, March 15.

Members of Friedheim;

For the past seven months, all financial obligations have been current except for our Wyneken payment.  Each month Wyneken has been receiving what is left to spare at the end of the month.  As you know, Wyneken's payments must be current as of June 30 (the end of their fiscal year).  This date is approaching quickly.  Currently, payments are still being made on the loan taken out last year to fulfill our commitment to Wyneken.  The Church Council has voted to dedicate our Easter offering to debt reduction, paying Wyneken in full first, with any extra going into the Home Purpose fund.  We are asking for your extra donations and prayers to help us accomplish this goal.  Thank you.

Mary Gallmeyer, Financial Treasurer

The LWML Spring Quarterlies have arrived and have been placed in either entrance way of the church.  You may pick up your copy as you leave the worship service this morning.

The AAL will have their regular monthly meeting following the worship service  Sunday, March 26, instead of next Sunday.

Grounds clean-up day has been set for Saturday, April 1, beginning at 9 a.m.  Please bring willing hands as well as rakes, buckets, and wheelbarrows.  Thanks in advance for your help!
