We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Don Buuck, Lisa Lee, Eveyln Keuneke, Jeff Bradtmueller, Shirley Witte, and Chris Putteet. In addition, we remember in our prayers our Wyneken 2nd grade teacher, Diane George, and one of our public school teachers, Dave Miller.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We extend our Christian sympathy to the family and friends  of Elsie Buuck    who was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 26, and was given Christian burial on Wednesday, March 1.  We also remember Marvin Drier in our prayers as his grandfather was called to his heavenly home this past week; as well as the family of friends of Brad Merriman who also entered the Kingdom of Heaven this past week.  May the comforting arms of our Savior be around these families as they deal with their losses.

We welcome Ethan Tyler Lehman, son of Tyler and Julie (Buuck) Lehman to our membership through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.  Ethan received the heavenly washing yesterday afternoon.  Serving as sponsors were Sherri Johnson and Roger Buuck.  May the Good Shepherd keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

The Deacons will be distributing the Provisional Revision of the Order of Holy Communion for use in this morning's worship service.  Please leave the supplement in the pew to be collected after the worship service.  Our congregation is one of the test congregations for the proposed hymnal to be published in 2007.  The Order of Holy Communion is very similar to our current page 15.  Some of the words have been slightly modified and some of the higher notes have been reduced to help male singing.   We will be using this supplement on communion Sundays during Lent.  The song the choir will sing this morning is from the Hymnal Supplement 98 (Hymn #818).  Comments about this revision or songs being used from the Hymnal Supplement 98 should be directed to Pastor or to one of the Elders (Wally Bultemeier, Dave Conrad, Les Conrad, or Jim Fuhrman).

We are often tempted to dwell on how evil our society is becoming.  Lent is a time to reflect, not on other people's sins, but on our own.  Hear the loving advice Jesus has for you during this Lenten season.  Hear Dr. Wallace Schulz's message, "Confessing the Sins of Others,"  on The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. and  at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday.  Midweek services will be held at noon and 7:00 p.m. during the season of Lent.  The theme of this year's Lenten services is the Attitudes of Lent.  Make plans to attend this week's service where the theme, "The Attitude of Testing," will be explored.  Holy communion will be celebrated at both services (noon and 7 p.m.)  At noon, the sermon text is based upon Genesis 22:1-14, "Abraham's faith is tested in the sacrifice of Isaac."  At 7 p.m. the sermon will be "Faith is tested by life's suffering and tragedy" from Romans 8:31-39.

There will be a door collection for WLAB and Worship for Shut Ins today.

Choir will meet on Tuesday evenings starting this Tuesday since our midweek Lenten services begin this Wednesday, March 8.

Following the Ash Wednesday evening service, the parents of the 2000 confirmation class are asked to meet in the back of the church.  A few items need to be discussed concerning examination and confirmation.  This should be a short meeting.

Our annual Soup & Sandwich Dinner will take place next Sunday.  The following items are still needed.  If you can donate any of the items listed below, please contact John or Nan Nidlinger at 724-9920 or Don or Sara Bultemeier at 547-4553 today.  Thanks!
