Announcements

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Gunnar Cale, Justin Jackson, Jacob Stoppenhagen, Dan Buuck, Alvin Witte, Aaron Gaul, and Delmar Heckman. In addition, we remember in our prayers our Wyneken 3rd grade teacher, Michele Martin, and one of our public school teachers, Jan Heimann.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember in our prayers this morning Clarence Bultemeier who has returned home following a stay at Parkview and Elsie Buuck who is in the extended care unit at Adams County Memorial Hospital.

We extend our Christian sympathy to the friends and family of Clara Ewell (mother of Dorothy Heckman) who was called to her heavenly home on Friday, February 18, and was given Christian burial on Tuesday, February 22.  We also remember the family and friends of Shirley Knight (grandmother of Shirley Drier) who was also called to her heavenly home.  May the God of all comfort be with these families as they deal with their losses.

This week has been designated as Lutheran Schools Week with the theme "Lutheran Schools Shine Like Stars."  Today our Wyneken students will "Shine Like Stars" by sharing the gift of music with us.  During pre-service, four of our Wyneken students (Emily Fuhrman, Ashley Fuhrmann, Laura Fuhrmann, and Dawn Heckman) played the piece they performed at the ISMA contest entitled "March."  During the offering, Cheryl Kiefer will play "Panis Angelicus"  on her flute.  At the conclusion of the service, all Wyneken students will come forward and sing "From All that Dwell below the Skies" (TLH #15).  We thank them for enhancing our worship service this morning.

Skeptics say the Christian faith evolved from the human person, Jesus of Nazareth, to the divine being, Jesus the Christ.  The truth is, Christianity was planted in history when Jesus was put in the grave and began to grow when Jesus rose from the dead and His disciples proclaimed His resurrection.  Hear    Dr. Wallace Schulz's message, "Is Christianity a Myth?"  on The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. and  at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

LWML Ladies:  Would you like to receive the LWML Quarterly this year?    The cost of the quarterlies are $4 per year.  We are asking the members who wish to receive this to cover the cost of their Quarterlies. If so, please contact Laurina Conrad, the LWML treasurer, by this Wednesday, March 1, and give her the $4.  Thanks!

Don't forget to pick up your Annual Report.  The Report as well as the 2000 Church Directory are in the back pew.   Any remaining reports will be placed in the south entrance way after today.

It's time to start planning for our annual Soup & Sandwich Dinner.  The following items are still needed.  If you can donate any of the items listed below, please contact John or Nan Nidlinger at 724-9920 or Don or Sara Bultemeier at 547-4553 today.  Thanks!

Want some of the old slate shingles from the church roof?  Pieces can be found in the dumpster next to church.  Feel free to take as many as you wish from the dumpster.  Since the removal of the old shingles may be completed this week, if you want any you need to do so soon.  Bundles of the new shingles arrived this week.

Please take a moment to read the information about the Midwest Chinese Ministries which is included in today's bulletin.  Let us keep this ministry in our prayers.

The men's basketball team doesn't have a game this week.  Tourney play will begin on March 6.

Dear Members of Friedheim,

Thank you so much for all the cards, prayers, care and concern shown to me during my recent hospitalization and recuperation.  I appreciated it so much.  May the Lord bless each of you.   Irene Kiess

Are you starting to plan that "spring break" trip?  Did you know American Airlines, the  Hyatt, Marriott, Courtyard, Residence, and Fairfield Inns are all part of the SCRIP program?  When making those travel plans, you may wish to look over the vendors involved in our SCRIP program and think of purchasing some of their certificates.  See Kris Blomenberg or Becky DeKoninck after the worship service this morning if you wish to purchase some SCRIP.
