Announcements

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Carol Brandt, Angie Werling, Cindy Des Jean, Esther Nuerge, Emily Miller, Alec Riehle, Jacob Bickel, and Janice Buuck. We also remember in our prayers our Wyneken School Board, especially those members from Friedheim, Jim Heckman, Kim Schamerloh, and Stan Stoppenhagen. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember in our prayers this morning Ernie Muller who had been hospitalized this past week.

A special thank you to Lydia Dahling for sharing the gift of song with us this morning.

God's blessings to Dave and Deb Miller who will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this Tuesday, December 28. May the Lord continue to bless this couple.

Make plans to attend our New Year's Eve service which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Dahling's sermon will be "Y2K."

God answered the prayers of a poor widow by giving her an endless amount of oil to sell in order to pay a debt. Dr. Wallace Schulz tells how you also can go to God to receive His endless grace, love, and help. Hear Dr. Schulz's message, "God's Love for You is Endless," on The Lutheran Hour. The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. (8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM) on Sunday.

Lutheran Hour Ministries sponsors the "Woman to Woman" program. It can be heard on WLAB (88.3 FM) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday or on WLYV (1450 AM) at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Next week's program will be "Using Good Cents." Now that the holidays are over it's time to implement changes that will put you back in control of your finances.

Friedheim's men's basketball team will be playing St. Mary's on Monday, Dec. 27, at 8:00 p.m. at Bellmont Middle School.

As we approach the end of the calendar year, consider our current church and school needs. The AAL matching gift program, that targets schools as the primary recipient, will match dollar for dollar contributions up to $100.00 per policyholder. Contribution forms may be picked up in the entry ways on either side of church. You have until December 31 to make your contribution for this year. You may either mail the form and your check to the school or place it in an envelope in the offering plate and your contribution will be forwarded to the school. The check should be made out to "Wyneken Lutheran School."

Contributions for 1999: Any contributions you wish to have credited to your 1999 statement must reach the treasurer by noon on January 1. Cindy Houser is the Vision 2000 treasurer; Shirley Hormann, Missions; and Sylvia Scheumann, Home Purpose.

Contribution envelopes for 2000 will be mailed this week. Please make sure you do not use these envelopes until Sunday, January 2. Your number may not necessarily be the same as last year. If you do not receive your envelopes, please contact the church office.

The Tabea Society's Christmas party will be held at Preble Gardens at noon on Wednesday, December 29.

Youth ushers for January will be Jim Buuck and Tyler and Drew Stoppenhagen.

The church books will be audited on Sunday, January 9, at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall basement.

There will be no Sunday School and Bible classes this morning.

Wyneken News

Wyneken school will be closed until December 27 so the custodian can clean and wax the floors.

Beginning January 3 any lunch account that exceeds $20 owed will be given three school days to make payment or the student will be asked to carry lunch until payment is made. If you have any questions about your account, please contact Darrell Ehlerding at 547-4229.

Our Wyneken students have begun their Christmas break. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 3.

On January 3, the day the students return from vacation, the entire school will observe 2000 seconds of reading. This event begins at 9:15 a.m. You are welcome to join by coming to school or by reading at home that day.

Market Day pick-up date is Monday, January 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Are some of those holiday bills coming in? Just a reminder that you can use SCRIP to pay off your charges at L. S. Ayres, Lowes, Kohl's, and J. C. Penney's. See Kris Blomenberg after the worship service this morning if you would like to purchase SCRIP.

Good luck to our boys' basketball teams which will be participating in the Heritage Tourney on Friday, December 31. Check a player for game time.

Congratulations to the varsity girls who finished second at the St. John's tourney last weekend. Great job, girls!
