The Lord's Supper: "In this Sacrament, the Forgiveness of Sins is not only preached, proclaimed, and promised, but here same time Christ gives, His Christians, His Very Body and Blood, as a pledge of it" (Walther). As we receive this gift, we ask any guests desiring to commune to speak with the Pastor before the service. Because of the Bible's witness to doctrinal oneness by those receiving the Sacrament together, the churches of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod promise to practice closed communion.

 Announcements

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Sara Werling, Dorothy Heckman, Marvin Conrad, Steven Conrad and Markie Mourey. We also remember, in our prayers, our pre-kindergarten teacher, Anne Hess.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember, in our prayers this morning, Eugene Burger, Anne Hess' father, who has returned home and is recuperating; Ernie Mueller, who is a patient at Parkview Hospital; and Sam Derrow, Misty Gehres' father, who has returned home and is recuperating.

We wish to extend Christian sympathy to the family of Carl Heckman; may the God of all comfort be with those who grieve his passing.

We remember in our prayers this morning Tony Jordan and Claudia Brandt, who were united in marriage at the Lord's altar yesterday evening. May the Lord be with this couple as they begin their lives together.

Parents!: Last Sunday, we handed out, a copy of the Christmas Eve Service to your children during Sunday School. Today and the next two Sundays in December will be our practice times during Sunday School. Mrs. Bonnie Buuck's class will practice in church and then will go to the Parish Hall for the remainder of the Sunday School hour. Please bring your children to these important practices and encourage them to participate.

Blue is not a holiday color - unless you're lonely. the word "Immanuel" means, "God with us". Using the text Matthew 1:23, Dr. Dale Meyer speaks about coping with "The Holiday Blues". Hear Dr. Meyer's message, "The Holiday Blues" on the Lutheran Hour. The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. (8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM) on Sunday.

Lutheran Hour Ministries sponsors the "Woman to Woman" program. It can be heard on WLAB (88.3 FM) at 10:00a.m. on Saturday or on WLYV (1450 AM) at 11:00a.m. on Sunday. Listen to next week's program, "Breaking the Bondage of Co-dependency". Rather than trying to change the alcoholic, persons in relationship with them must establish firm and healthy boundaries.

Friedheim's Men's Basketball Team will be playing vs. St. Paul, Preble on Monday, December 6, at 7:00p.m. at Monmouth Elementary School.

The Trustees will be accepting bids for the Parish Hall Custodian and Lawn and Groundskeeper positions from now through December 5. Please contact one of our trustees, Calvin Buuck, Roger Buuck, Dale Heckman or Sean Sielschott, if you are interested in bidding or need any additional information.

The Lutheran Home has asked Friedheim to supply the December birthday cakes. Cake pans will be available for your use, and the cakes will be delivered to the Lutheran Home. Nine (9) cakes are needed -- two (2) angel food cakes (one iced and one plain), three (3) chocolate, two (2) yellow and two (2) white. If you would be willing to donate a cake(s); would like a cake pan; or need any additional information, please contact Margaret Buuck. Please have your cakes in the church basement by 12 Noon, on Tuesday, December 7.

The LWML would like to extend a very special Thank You!! To all the hostesses and co-hostesses for the Advent by Candlelight. The tables were beautiful and the desserts were 'yummy'. To Sandy, Dawn, Tammy, Shirley, Rachelle, Lydia, Alicia, and Becky for your music and songs. To Addy and Doris for a great program. To Laurina and Dorothy for kitchen duties. To all the guests attending (97 in all) and for bringing gifts for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. We have 67 items to deliver. Thank You!!  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! Ann Crosby

The Lutheran Foundation has awarded our congregation a grant totalling $73,000. This places us close to reaching the Vision 2000 goal. The Vision 2000 program was established to meet the financial requirements for capital projects including the roof, Wyneken expansion and future needs. The Vision 2000 program has proven susccessful because of proportionate and planned first fruits giving. As we approach the end of the calendar year, consider our current church and school needs. The AAL matching gift program, that targets schools as the priimary recipient, will match dollar for dollar contributions up to $100.00 per policyholder. Contribution forms may be picked up in the entry ways on either side of church.

The Nativity Committee will be handing out nativity pieces this morning. The following Pre-Kindergartners will be receiving their first piece today: Jacob Bergman, Rosa DeKoninck, Brett Hormann, Shelby Kiess, Katie Linnemeier, Alex Miller, Ben Miller, Vivian Miller and Madison Stoppenhagen.

Our budget and election meeting will be held on Monday, December 13 at 7:00p.m., in the church basement. Your input is important to us. The following is a listing of the slate of candidates for Church Council.
