+ In Nomine Jesu +

The following order of service was written by Dr. Martin Luther in 1528.  The Latin was replaced with the language of the people, and hymns are used to replace some of the spoken parts of the service, thus enabling the congregation to participate in the service. The reading of the Gospel lesson in front of the people represents the Gospel going out to the ends of the earth.

The Opening Hymn TLH #262

"A Mighty Fortress is Our God"

The Invocation

P: In the Name of the Father, (+) and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

C: AMEN. (to be sung)

The Introit of the Day

The Gloria (to be sung)TLH #237

"All Glory Be to God on High"
All glory be to God on high
Who hath our race befriended!
To us no harm shall now come nigh,
The strife at last is ended,
God showeth His good will to men,
And peace shall reign on earth again;
Oh, thank Him for His goodness!

We have come here today to magnify and worship our wonderful Lord. We are so happy that you have joined us and we want to welcome you. If you are visiting, please sign your name in the guest registry. There is a registry in either entry way of the church. We hope you will be blessed through God's Word and feel His presence.

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Gregg Schultz, Sara Blomenberg, Olga Reifsteck, Dorothy Werling, Elliot Gehres, Lester Werling, and Janice K. Buuck. We also remember, in our prayers, our third grade teacher, Michelle Martin, and also, Sandy Blomenberg, who teaches at our sister congregation, St. Peter-Immanual. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember, in our prayers this morning, Andy Buuck, who is at home recuperating, and also Eugene Burger, Anne Hess' father, who is at Parkview Hospital.

For some, a crucifix is only a piece of jewelry or the symbol of an unnecessary tragedy. Dr. Wallace Schulz explains, what St. Paul means, when he says, "The Word of the Cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the Power of God". Hear Dr. Schulz's message, "Foolishness Can Save You" on The Lutheran Hour. The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. (8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM) on Sunday.
