We remember those members who are celebrating birthdays this week -- Jim Heckman, Ethan Lichtle, Henry Dahling, Rosa Harman, Christian Robinson, Michael Linnemeier, Rachelle Buuck, and Velma Schuller. We also remember our public school teacher, Judy Bauman, who is beginning her 1999-2000 school year and the principal of our Wyneken School, James Krupski. We also remember this Labor Day all people in vocations and callings in our prayers. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We remember in our prayers this morning Georgianna Alvarez (Addy Schuller's sister) who at the University Hospital at Ohio State recovering from burns,

Alan Bergdall (great-grandson of Olga Reifsteck) who is recovering at home, Andy Buuck who recovering at home, and Ernie Muller who continues under doctor's care. May the Great Physician grant health and strength to them and all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We extend best wishes and prayers to Erin Hormann and Ryan Lengerich who will be united in matrimony at the Lord's Altar this coming Saturday, September 11th. May the the Lord bless this couple as they begin their lives together.

True religion is not a spectator sport. the Bible says, "Blessed are They Who Hear the Word of God and Keep it." Hear Dr. Schultz's message, "Don't Just Listen, Respond,"" on The Lutheran Hour. The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. (8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM) on Sunday.

Lutheran Hour Ministries sponsors the "Woman to Woman" program. It can be heard on WLAB (88.3 FM) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday or 11:00 a.m. on WLYV (1450 AM) on Sunday. Listen to next week's program, "More Than Just Friends", same sex relationships are being promoted as "normal," "loving," and as stable as traditional male/female relationships. What attracts people to same sex relationships and what are the problems thay must confront?

Our Zion, Friedheim LWML is hosting the Decatur Zone SRD workshop on this Saturday, September 11th, at 9:00am in our Parish Hall. The theme for this year's workshop is "Set Free--Live Free". Please plan to attend, for additional information contact Adele Blomenberg at 547-4342.

Produce of all kinds are needed for our produce market. We are open through the week as well as on weekends. Bring your produce to the "Cornfusion" sight. Place it in the cooler wagon or on the tables. Call Teri Conrad (724-8464), if you have any questions.

Just a reminder "Cornfusion" helpers are still needed for the days in September and October. Contact any member of the staffing committee (Ron or Bonnie Buuck, Les or Karen Conrad, Don or Shirley Gehres, or Delmar or Joyce Heckman), if you can help.

The "Cornfusion" food committee would welcome contributions of the following items: Hot Dogs; Hamburgers; Cash; Buns-( Hot Dog & Hamburger).

A sign-up sheet for the Glenbrook Bazaar is located in the south entrance way. The bazaar will be on Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11, with set up on Thursday night, September 9. Your help will be needed to make this a successful sale this year. (The bazaar dates coincide with a wedding, the SDR workshop, and "Cornfusion" as well as other conflicts.) Please check your calendars and see if you can fit this activity in your schedules. Profits from the sale will go towards the new church roof. (AAL is again using this as a "Helping Hands" project.)

Parents of College Students: As your student leaves for that dorm room or off-campus housing, please don't forget to give the church office his or her campus address, phone number, and E-mail address. This information will be published in the newsletter for others to be able to contact your student as well as being able to send the newsletter and other information to them.

On Saturday, September 11th the Emmanuel Soest, Men's Softball Team is sponsoring a day of softball, freewill donation hogroast, home run derby and fellowship to benefit their teammate, Bill McCoy, who has accumulated medical bills from cancer treatment. Everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer for their team at the Hoagland Diamonds. This is an AAL matching funds event. Market Day pick-up is Tuesday, September 7th, at 6:30-7:15p.m. in the cafeteria.

The Athletic Boosters are looking for donations of pop to sell at the concession stands for the home volleyball and soccer games. Also, if you can help out working the stand, please sign the volunteer sheet posted outside the school office.
