Announcements

We remember those members who are celebrating birthdays this week -- Bonnie Buuck, Eldora Fuelling, Roger Manley, Chad Baumann, Patty Strickler, Bernice Berning, Gerhard Buuck, and Ruth Hartmann. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

We remember in our prayers this morning Louise Fuhrmann who has returned home, Paul Fuhrmann who has returned home after being a patient at Lutheran Hospital, and Andy Buuck and Ernie Muller who remain under doctors' care.. May the Great Physician grant health and strength to them and all who are in need of His presence in their lives.

We welcome into membership Audrey May Dickmander through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. She is the daughter of Jon and Amy (Scheumann) Dickmander. Serving as godparents are Aleese Fielder, Dawn Felger, and Amy Bezdek. May the Good Shepherd continue to keep an ever-watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

Sometimes things beyond our control make us angry. The story of an Alzheimer's patient teaches the gentleness of God, a gentleness that can cool our angers. Hear Dr. Dale Meyer's Lutheran Hour message, "The Treasure of Mom's Broken Cane," on The Lutheran Hour. The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m. (8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM) on Sunday.

Lutheran Hour Ministries sponsors the "Woman to Woman" program. It can be heard on WLAB (88.3 FM) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday or 11:00 a.m. on WLYV (1450 AM) on Sunday. Listen to next week's program, "The Growing Popularity of Cults." What is a cult? How do you identify one? What lures people to become members of a cult? A look at why we see a surge in cults today.

There will be no adult Bible class this morning because of the special church meeting. Class will resume next Sunday, August 15.

Just a reminder that a Special Voters' Meeting is planned for today following the worship service. Bids on the church roof will be the topic of discussion.

Mark your calendars for Friday, August 13. JETS will be meeting at Mike & Judy Werling's at 7:00 p.m. Bring your flashlights since we'll be trying to see if a "haunted" maze will be possible for this fall. You are also asked to bring drinks and appetizers. Hope to see at the "Cornfusion" sight!

Produce of all kinds are needed for our produce market. We are open through the week as well as on weekends. Bring your produce to the "Cornfusion" sight. Place it in the cooler wagon or on the tables. Call Teri Conrad (724-8464) if you have any questions.

The "Cornfusion" food committee has been meeting and would welcome any contributions of the following now and throughout the summer and fall.

Bottled water Pop (in cans) - Pepsi or Coke products Mustard
Hamburger Buns (hot dog and hamburger) Nacho chips
Hot dogs Cash

You may contact any committee member -- Tami Stoppenhagen (728-9101), Kris Blomenberg (547-4673), Evie Fuhrman (639-3158), Dorothy Heckman (547-4497), Janice Buuck (432-9039) & Joy Erxleben (547-4139); they would also be willing to pick up your donation. Thanks in advance for your help.

Word of our corn maze continues to spread. An article in the San Diego, California Union was featured last Saturday. Continue to spread the word here to family and friends.
