We remember those members who are celebrating birthdays this week -- Kay Jackson, Sandy Blomenberg, Jonathon Buuck, Christopher Gormann, Jamie Gormann, Ashley Manley, Floyd Thieme, Anna Crosby, Hubert Fuelling, Bailey Jonathon, Jared Kaehr (his first), Marvin Drier, Stan Stoppenhagen, and Loren Gallmeyer. We also remember our Wyneken Resource Teacher, Kenneth Germann, in our prayers. May the Lord continue to guide direct, and bless their lives.
May the Great Physician be with all of those who are recovering from accidents, illness, and other medical conditions.
Please plan to attend the Ascension Celebration at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13. Pastor's sermon is entitled "Power for Ending and Beginning," Holy Communion will also be observed. There will be an Altar Guild meeting on Tuesday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. All ladies of the congregation are welcome to attend this meeting.

Our LWML will be taking Education Kits to the ingathering at the International LWML Convention in Minnesota in July. There is a donation sheet and box in the south entranceway as well as more detailed information. Collections will be taken throughout the month of May. Thanks in advance for your help with this project.
The men's softball team is playing on May 10, at 7 p.m. (The opponent and location was not available at the time the bulletin was printed.) Any confirmed male of the congregation may play. Questions? Call Steve Conrad or Kevin Buuck.
The Morning Glories are taking a summer break; however, a workday is being planned for Tuesday, May 18, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to work on getting materials together for rag rugs. You may wish to pack a lunch and come for the day (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or just come for the morning or afternoon. Items needed that day are rotary cutters and mats, scissors, an additional sewing machine, and, of course, willing hands. If you have any old blue jeans you would like to donate to this project, you may bring them to the Parish Hall.
Attention Gardeners!! Are you willing to put out a little more produce this year to help with the truck garden as part of the "Cornfusion" maze project? Your help is needed to make this area of the fundraiser successful. Teri Conrad will be coordinating this project and wants to hear from you about what you can do. Please let her know by calling 724~8464 at your earliest convenience. Thank you in advance for your green thumbs!
Registration forms for the Second Annual Friedheim Open were included in the May newsletter. Take some time to read that information and return your form to Paul Des Jean by June 5.
The annual Bargain Bonanza Extravaganza Garage Sale sponsored by Lutheran Homes and AAL will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 13 & 14, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Southtown Mall. Donations are being received on Fridays (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) until May 8.
There will be an AAL meeting today following the worship service.
A special thank you to those ladies who volunteered to serve the luncheon and donated items at the Whip Gallmeyer sale which was held on Saturday, April 17. A total of $296 was donated to the Vision 2000 campaign from the sale.

Mrs. Ackmann, one of our third grade teachers, has accepted a call to Emmanuel/St. Michael and will be leaving our Wyneken family at the end of this school year. She will be missed but we pray God's blessings upon her at her new school.
The School Board is looking for a Pre-K teacher since Mrs. Fuhrmann will be teaching both a morning and afternoon kindergarten next year. All those interested in applying for this position should contact Wyneken (639-6177).
A Fun Day for grades Pre-K through 4th will be held on Friday, May 28. The committee has met once and activities are being planned to make this an enjoyable day for the children. Adult volunteers, parents, grandparents, and special friends) are still needed to help with the various activities as well as help supervise the different groups of children. If you can help, please contact Rae Fuhrmann at the school. One of the activities planned is a "Cookie Walk." If you would be willing to make some cookies for the walk, please contact Corene Scheumann (547-4227).
A reception for Mr. Ken Germann, our learning resource center teacher at Wyneken, is being planned for Sunday, May 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Wyneken gym. Mr. Germann is retiring at the end of this school year and this will be an opportunity for current and former students and their families as well as friends to honor this special teacher. If you would like to make a monetary donation as a gift for Mr. Germann you may put your gift in an envelope marked "Ken Germann Gift: and place it in the offering plate today or turn it in to the school office by Wednesday, May 12.
We are praying for a safe journey for upper classes this week who will he attending field trips: 6th Grade will be attending Outdoor Education at Camp Lutherhaven, 7th Grade will be traveling to Greenfield Village, and the 8th Grade will be traveling to Washington, D.C.
Seventh and eighth grade athletes and their parents are invited to the annual athletic banquet on Wednesday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. Each family is asked to bring two dishes to share (a main dish and a salad, vegetable, or a dessert dish) as well as their own table service.
Family and friends are invited to enjoy the musical talents of our band members (both beginning and upper grade) at their concert on Thursday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m.
