The Readings

The Gift of the Spirit
Isaiah 42:1-7 God gave His Spirit to His servant
Acts 10:34-38 God anointed Jesus with the Spirit
Matthew 3:13-17 Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist
"Come for All Things are now Ready"
                                       Matthew 3:13-17

Consider what the Father planned for you through His own Son's baptism.
1. Jesus said, "Let us do so now..."
2. Jesus said, "…it is proper for us to do this..."
3. Jesus said, "…to fulfill all righteousness"

The Accolyte

Dan Buuck

We remember Eldine Boese who is a patient at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Gregg Schultz who also was at Adams County this past week, and Addy Schuller who underwent surgery at Lutheran Hospital last week in our prayers. We pray that the Great Physician be with them and all others in need.

We rejoice with Mike and Dawn (Gallmeyer) Miller who were blessed with a healthy baby girl, Emily Elizabeth, on Wednesday, December 30. May the Good Shepherd keep an ever watchful eye on this most precious of His lambs.

We remember those members who are celebrating birthdays last week and this week -- Pastor Dahling, David Buuck, Brett Gallmeyer, Sheila Putteet, Davon Bultemeier, Waldo Conrad, Kris Blomenberg, Lori Caston, Dennis Schuller, Spencer Scheumann, Jacob Lee. Mike Brandt, Dave Miller, Tami Stoppenhagen, Kathy Moellering, and Richard Keuneke and Ken Germann, our Learning Center teacher. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

There wilt be an AAL meeting following the worship service today. They will meet in the back of church.

The LYF will have a short meeting this morning.

St. Paul wrote, "We were burdened excessively, beyond our strength so that we despaired even of life." How did he keep going in the face of discouragement? Hear Dr. Wallace Schulz's message, "Do Not Give Up!" on The Lutheran Hour next Sunday as he tells us how we can live with confidence. The program is broadcast at 7:35 a.m. on WOWO and at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM.
